Has anyone got any information/experience with tire pressure sensors for a Class A motorhome? What are the best brands? Should you have them on the toad as well?

Check thread on TPMS. Everyone likes the one they bought for the most part. I bought a set from HawksHead. I picked that brand from reading the info and you can change the batteries. Some have sealed units and you replace the sensor when battery dies. I would put them on the toad, you want to know if the toad is getting a flat. Buy a set that can read up to as many as you need. You can get sets up I think 26 sensors. good luck, you can go dizzy with all the feed back.

There have been several threads about that very subject. If you click on the Search tab above & then type in tire pressure monitoring, you'll find a lot of reading & opinions.
For example, HERE's one I found.

Hi rmkro,
Welcome to iRV2. TPMS technology is a commodity. They all work. They all have their +/-s. This means purchase the Brand that works best for you. Focus on understanding the control panel you will need to understand and interface with. When you need this system will be while traveling down the road. Does the control panel display information that is readily understood by the driver? Are there too many features that would lead to confusion when an alarm sounds? Buy what works for you.
Back in 2005, I purchased the Pressure Pro System. It is simple to use and understand. Setting it up is more difficult than I wanted. I understand they may have corrected that problem. For me, simple is best.

i added a Pressure Pro system to my coach last year...one of the simplest things I've done in a long time. works very well, if you want to get real simple, have the dealer set it up for you when you buy it. a friend bought one at Quartzsite this year and that is what he had done.. all that my friend had to do is plug in the unit and then screw on the sensors. can't get much simpler than that, of course, he didn't ask the dealer to screw them on for him .

We have a Smart Tire system that is installed inside of the tires and had sensors added to the toad as well. THey no longer sell new systems for non-commercial use but you coudl probably still pick one up and the sensors are still sold for non-commercial use.
What we like is that there is nothing on the outside to be damaged/stolen and it is integrated with the VMSPc computer system on our coach. It works extremely well and I know that it has saved us at least once on the toad. Also makes the morning check easier as I turn on the system (VMSpc) about 1/2 hour before we go and I can get tire pressure readings for all 12 tires without going outside!.
Regardless of what system you get I would strongly recommend adding them to the toad as well.

Hi rmkro,
In my earlier post, I forgot to mention to make sure the sensors are installed on your toad vehicle. The two times Pressure Pro has saved me is with the toad. Without them, the driver will never know (especially with a diesel powered coach) there is a toad tire problem until quite a bit of damage is done to the toad. As the toad tire disintegrates and one starts to tow on the axle, the diesel will just hunker down and pull harder. For the most part there is nothing to let the driver know something is wrong.

Yes, install sensors on your toad. It's not really true that everyone likes the brand of sensors they bought. We went with the Doran 360 and I've had 4 sensors fail in three years.

does anyone here have any knowlege of, or experience with the PressurePlus 8000 system from pacific dualies? here is a link from amazon:
Amazon.com: PressurePlus 8000 Series 6-Sensor Tire Pressure & Temp. Monitoring System (TPMS): Automotive
looks like a perfect system for my rig. 6 sensors, pressure and temp, under 300 bux.

I just purchased the Tire Traker system that is also the Hawks Head system and I beleive, the CW product. I purchased it with 12 sensors for my toad and toy trailer and also installed the hard wired repeator. So far it works well and the price was right and it has a 36 month warranty.
Like the above posts they all seem to work.

As previously mentioned, the particular brand is subjective BUT we wouldn't leave the barn without one of them on both MH & toad.
PS - We have the HawksHead and find it serves our purposes.

Currently have the Pressure Pro for 10 wheels. Has worked pretty good for the past 4 years. Now all sensors batteries are low and need replacing. At the cost of replacing the sensors batteries because you have to send them back to Doran, I am going with the TST system and be able to replace them myself.
