Toilets! Plastic vs China, Full Time Use Rating?
Hello!
We are in the market for a new toilet... there are only a few it seems to choose from but, I'm curious if anyone has compared Plastic to China? If any are rated for FULL TIME USE? (I haven't found that info listed?)
Also, ... Dometic vs. Aqua Magic vs. Bravura
We'll also need a low-profile style, which may limit the options?
If you have any advise or recommendations I'd appreciate it.
THANK YOU!

In our old C we had a plastic toilet. All I can say it was functional or bare bones. Our present A has a china Dometic (Sealand) Traveler 511+ with a hand sprayer. We like this toilet as much as we do our Mansfields at home.
You'll never see a "Full time" rating on a toilet, just quality, price and options. Wouldn't dream of full timing with a plastic toilet. Sealand offers many heights and sizes, as I'm sure other mfgs do.

wheres the toilet going... on a floor mount or raised up box mount?
I like the china bowl as its easy to clean. Got a nice quiet close lid from a big box hardware store for $15.

See your doctor, cut down on fiber!
I think china toilets are easier to clean, more rigid and will stand up to everything but a hammer. Look at the flush mechanism, is it a slide valve or a ball valve? Seems to me the ball (round, rotating valve) is less prone to need leaking.

When I replaced my Aquamagic IV I got the Bravura and I am happy with it.
I did not have room for a Sealand ceramic or I would have bought one of them because of the ease in cleaning.

Raised box. Oh, I can see that I'm going to have to check the bowl/top width of the china options to make sure it will fit my space. THANKS!!

Liking the sound of the china option more and more. Sprayer and quite lid additions are exciting too.

I went from a China to a plastic, and have not noticed any difference. As long as it's a comfortable sit, does not leak anywhere, and is easy to clean, there is no noticeable contrast.
The difference, and approval rating comes from the distance between a persons ears, IMHO.

I think there are a lot of advantages to the china toilets, but- I recently had to replace the water valve on the back of my Thetford Aqua Magic (plastic toilet). It was five years old. There are really only 3 major parts on this model and when I compare that to most of the china toilets- I prefer plastic. I don't want to hassle with toilet repairs and maint.

After 13 years of use, I replace the ball seal (wouldn't hold water in the bowl any longer) in my Sealand china. While I was at it, I decided to replace the water valve too as I had no idea how much longer it would last. The project took maybe 20 mins. Just one more reason I like Sealand chinas.

I'm changing out my toilet right now as we speak. (well not right now I'm typing of course)
I have the stubby plastic toilet on a wood box. I'm really not happy from a comfort level with it. I felt it was too high. When I measured to top of bowel including box it was 20.5" inches. Just yesterday, I measured the new Dometic China Bowl model....17-3/4". I KNEW IT"! Almost 3" higher.
The other issueI have is that the box is carpeted. WHO DESIGNS THESE COACHES? WHO PUTS CARPET AROUND A TOILET? Obviously the designer in my case was 7' tall and sat down to pee.
I removed the old toilet yesterday and cut out the raised box and it was 9.5" of emptiness and was put in to cover two 1/2" water lines across the back.
I'm going to put a small cover in over the water lines and put a porcelaine Dometic toilet in. I'm also going to move the toilet back towards the rear wall so I can take my nose off the door when I sit down.

We just replaced our 12-yr old Sealand with a new one because the seals and flush valve had worn out and the cost of a new one wasn't that much more than the repair parts for the old one. We didn't expect much of a change because we were replacing with essentially the same model, but, to our surprise, the new toilet is taller by at least an inch than the one we replaced. For aging, aching knees this was a real positive change; the new toilet is pretty much at the so-called "ADA height" of new residential toilets.

I have had both plastic and china toilets. I feel that the plastic will stain and be harder to get clean. The ceramic is quite thin compared to a home toilet but it has held up for over 5 years of fulltiming. It is easier to keep clean and I think it rinses easier too. Regardless of type, I would get the sprayer attachment. I think most toilets are offered in various heights so you should be able to get the height you want in either material.
