Looking into Nav Systems, the Wife likes the Tom Tom due to pricing @ $600.....any input on this unit would be appreciated. I've looked at others (Magellian/Garmin) for $200 more....are they worth the extra $$$??

If you have a lap top and a suitable place to place it, consider the DeLorme Streets and Trips. The mapping program and GPS go for about $100. I have used the program for two years and it has worked very well. I carry, but, have not used paper maps since.
The advantage beyond price is screen size. The disadvantage is you have to have a place to put it. Taking it into the car generally means putting it on someones lap.
The lap top sits on the dash so that the wife and I can both see it. The only conversation we have about directions anymore is how far to the next rest stop, which I could program in if desired.
