Vanguard Tires

Wanted to ask if anyone has any experience with Vanguard tires? We are looking to replace our current Kendal Radial LT235/85 R16 tires. We've been quoted Goodyear @ $334 each or we can get a set of 4 Vanguards, G rated, 14 ply for $800.00. Can't seem to find any reviews for the Vanguard and don't want to buy poor tires. Tire shops said sell these to construction companies that haul bobcats and other heavy machinery. Thanks for any advice!

Vanguard tires are made by the same company that makes Power King and Tow Max tires. Do a quick search of this forum and you'll find a LOT of people have had some serious problems with them.

If you need inexpensive tires, look for brands that have been around a while and have a good track record. Sailun, Samson and Double Coin come to mind.

Just installed 6 Yokhama tires at a good price. Any of the current crop of off brands are going to be junk.

Michelin owners think Yokohamas are junk because they're cheaper than Michelins. Yokohama owners think anything that costs less than their tires are junk for the same reason. Whatever...

Many years ago, Packard Motor Company used the slogan, "Ask the man who owns one". That's pretty good advice today, as well. I don't hear any owners complaining about any of the tires I mentioned above. The only bad-mouthing comes from those who still believe that nothing that's made in China can possibly be any good.

Do some research, talk to people who actually have first hand experience, and ignore all the internet scuttlebutt. Then you can make an informed decision.
