We tried a cover one winter. The dust got under the thing and the movement(from wind) sanded the paint at all the corner contact points. We never covered it again. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Thanks that is one thing we are concerned about. Also we had a TT for about 6yrs that had fiberglass sides. My husband waxed it religiously at least 1-2 a yr.But last yr when we traded it it, it was still very yellowed.Inside looked like new tho.

Lets face it these RV's will never be an investment so the better looking you keep yours the more it will be worth down the road. I probably type this same reply 50 times a year, so here goes. When my wife and I were looking at a TT we could not believe how bad the outside of them looked after just a couple years. You see while rubber roofs solved a long time problem with RV's (leaky roofs) it created an entire new problem (black streaks). My cover was one of the first items I bought. I put a good carnuba paste wax on it every year and use a product called protect-all after each wash. The protect-all has a UV protectant that really helps with fading. If any bl;ack streaks develope while we are camping they simply wash off. I always wash my RV and cover it withing 3 days of returning from a trip. Now you must use a cover made for RV's, don't use a tarp, the cover has to breath, or you will have a bigger problem which is mold and mildew!!! I bought mine from JC Whitney, they had a special on their catalog for new customers which added up to a big savings. The covers came is three quality levels, the bottom 2 had a 2 year warranty and the upper had a 3. I chose the cheaper one with a 2 year warranty. I live in the NW part of NC and barely see temps above 95 in Summer. I aprk my TT in the shade on my property. The first cover lasted about 12-13 months before it sun rotted on the very top. I called JC Whitney and they replaced it free of charge. This one lasted about 14 months and they just sent me my new cover last week. At this rate I plan on getting a new cover every 12 months or so. I am told that very seldom to any of the covers make it through their warranty period. The choice is yours. I would be willing to try the more expensive cover, but as long as I can keep getting new ones I will. By the way my TT looks better today then the day I bought it.

We bought an ADCO cover from CW and have used it for about 5 months. Our coach is stored in an outdoor lot, and it surely keeps the coach a lot cleaner than without it. That said, I don't know if I'd recommend it, or buy another when this one gives up the ghost. Main reason is that it takes about 20-30 minutes to put on or take off, and it makes me think twice about using the coach. Also, crawling around on the roof with the tarp laid out so you can't see all the obstructions to trip over is fairly intimidating, at least to me. We like to take the MH out for the day, park at the beach, and party in our ocean front property, and the cover kinda puts a damper on that.

Thanks for all the opinions. These covers arent cheap, and it really helps make an informed decision. I guess hubby will just have to build that shelter like he was trying to talk himself out of,lol.

Thank you NCHornet for typing that "same reply 50 times a year" because I again find myself at the crossroads of making this decision once again as I have a new 5er on order and again find my self contemplating this subject.

BUT... wilanddij brought up my reservation, the length of time required to put the darn thing on. I've always heard how long it takes and even that it really is handy to have 2 or 3 helpers to do it most quickly to get the cover up and over the roof and AC's.
I always wash and SPRAY-Wax my 5er before AND after each trip, and that has really helped keep them new looking over the years.
But if I do get a cover this time around, I was thinking about putting a half inflated innertube at each of the 4 corners of the roof of the trailer to keep the cover from rubbing the paint during wind. It would kind of hold the cover off the sides of the roof. Unfortunately, that kind of sounds like it will take an EXTRA 20 minutes over and above the normal long time of attaching the cover. And thats why I historically buy so much Spray-wax.
