If anyonehas a gray or black tank odor problem, try the Xtreme Vent. This product preforms exactly as advertised. We bought one and installed it on our Cameo in January and haven't had any odor since nor have we used any chemicals.I don't work for nor do I get paid for advertising this product.Xtreme Vent
On their site click on other products and then Xtreme Vent.

I've had two Xtreme vents on my coach for 3 years now. The work realy well & I don't use chemicals either. With the power coated aluminum, my Xtreme vents still look like new. Can't say that about the plastic 360; they are taller & after 3 years, the yellow'd plastic make your rig look "old". Of course you have to pay an extra $30 to get the high quality. Also, I like the looks of the pair of quail sitting on my roof.

I too have an Extreme Vent. Although one must consider where it is mounted to consider their effectiveness. If the vent pipe is mounted in the wrong place they may not work very well.

Case in point, a friend of ours has one and if the wind happens to be coming from the wrong direction the air conditioner on top of his coach apparently causes eddy currents and the Extreme Vent just rotates. We tested it and during this rotation it failed to suck any air at all from the black tank. Once the wind changed and it stayed aligned with the wind it started working very well.

While following him down the road, the vent does the same thing just constantly rotates. I think the only real cure is to add an extension to get it up higher.

First want to say I did not know they made one other than plastic.
I had Camping World put one on mine and I do not see it moving a lot. It will a little when the wind shifts but normaly just sits there.

Does it have to spin to remove odors?

Now I have not had any problem with smell and I also do not use anything other than a half cup of washing powder (surf) and a couple of water softer pellets.

No, it doesn't have to spin to work; it creates a vacuum by just pointing into the wind/breeze.

Happy trails,
Bill
