Has any one added a 12 volt light to there 12 volt system. I want to add a small 12 volt light in my Bathroom. But the suppler is telling me I need a Driver for the new light to take it from 120 to 12 volt, and I tried to tell him that it is already 12 volts, In my mind I just need to Peggy back to an existing light?

As long as you have 12V there, and are getting a 12V light, then do that.

He might have thought you wanted to add a 12 volt ThinLite to the ceiling. That light takes 12 volt and changes it to 120 VAC using a special ballast to drive the two 120 VAC bulbs within the light.

If you purchased any of the RV style 12 VDC lamps that are available from Camping World and other RV suppliers it should be a plug and play providing that you have a 12 VDC supply nearby.

my ceiling, restroom and bed board lights are all 12v. most of class a's are wired that way. the only 110vac was on the wall sockets which are the same as in your house wall sockets.

If you are installing in a sticks & Bricks. The dealer is right.

If you are installing in an RV.. The dealer is wrong, RV lighting is normally 12 volt.. If you have 120 volt lights in your rv (I have two) they are likely plugged into 120 volt outlets (Standard wall outlets) as mine are.

Just one word of caution. (Well two but they are the same word,, METER)

12 volt wiring in an rv looks a lot like the 120 volt wireing in many cases. They may both use the same wire (Romex) for much of the run, and BLACK is the HOT wire.

So use your meter to be 100% sure you have a 12 volt wire and positive is what you think it is.
