18 Lonon Aire and Dish TV

We just got a 18 Newmar London Aire and are having problems connecting Direct TV service. We are here at NIRVC a Direct TV installer and since our coach has both HDMI cable and CAT 6 they have tried 3 different boxes and haven't been able to get it to work. Wanted to explore switching to Dish service. The 2 satellite system are Winegard RTT-20B and the other is a Winegard SKM 300. Will Dish service work on these 2 satellite systems?

Switching to Dish will not be an inexpensive option. The dome antenna only needs to have a couple of DIP switches changed but your Trav'ler is a Direct TV model and will not work with Dish unless you modify it to a Dish version or replace it with Dish version.

I'm not sure how your coach is wired but all TV these days is fed via HDMI, either directly cabled or via Cat 6 (with encoders and decoders). Since you have DirecTV, your connections from your receiver(s) to the antenna is via SWM technology. Sounds like your technician hasn't figured out that your motorhome is really the same as a residential connection.

We also have the full-sized Directv dish on our '18 Dutch Star. I decided on Dishnet instead. NIRVC said they could switch out the sat dish from Directv to Dish, but that is an expensive proposition - already paid a ton of money for Directv dish, and adding the full cost of a new Dish unit plus installation is just crazy.

I've been researching it and found that Winegard sells conversion kits. Two are required for the complete conversion... A new arm/LNB's, and a new reflector. The two kits together cost about $300. We are heading to Las Vegas in the morning. I will order the kits from Winegard, find a tech there that can do the work, get the conversion done and go with Dish.

Not really. I believe changing a Winegard Travler from DirecTV to DISH is an under $500 conversion.
