Adapter for SAT HDMI output to coax leading to TVs

My 2003 Fleetwood has coax running to/from bedroom and front room TVs. I am now using a Dish Wally receiver (SAT). Problem is that my Wally only has 1 HDMI output. Using that to connect to my digital (front) TV. Bedroom TV remains unused.

Question: can I connect the SAT receiver (via HDMI cable) to an adapter that had HDMI in/coax RG out to both TVs? Have the bedroom cable in the same cabinet with Wally and front TV. Want to avoid going wireless if I can use an adapter/splitter with HDMI/coax. Understand I can't convert coax to HDMI. But would think in reverse it would work. Any thoughts/solutions are appreciated.

Thanks. Paul

We have a BOMB (box of many buttons) video distribution box. I ran RCA (yellow, red, white) cables from the Wally to the BOMB and use the original factory coax from the BOMB to the bedroom TV. Not high definition, but the picture is just fine on the smaller bedroom TV. HDMI connects the Wally to the larger front TV.

If you don't have a BOMB, you might consider a cheap RCA to coax converter on Amazon (under $15) and just use the RCA output on the Wally and coax to the bedroom (and HDMI from the Wally to the front TV). One like this:

https://www.amazon.com/RCA-Compact-R...-1-spons&psc=1

I recently ran a HDMI cable from the front entertainment cabinet to the bedroom TV and am shopping for a 1 to 2 HDMI splitter to get high definition output from the Wally to both TVs, but the current way using coax has worked fine for several years.

They do make HDMI to Modulated RF output.
https://www.amazon.com/Coaxial-Conve...tronics&sr=1-3

Would also need an HDMI splitter to send to both front TV and the converter box.

The RCA converters that fatchance mentioned also work well. I use that in my coach.

Hmmm, guess I didn't dig deep enough when I upgraded my tv system. I was hoping to use the existing coax to run to the bedroom, but my Wally didn't have a coax output.

How is the picture after going thru the E-SDS converter? Is it close to a 'true' HDMI signal, or regular SD?

Only thing I found that fit the bill was a wireless HDMI receiver/transmitter system by 'Actiontech' (~$175). When it worked it had a good picture, but first one failed in less than 2 weeks, and now its replacement (a month later) doesn't always link up. They're good about offering a replacement, but I'd rather have something that works all the time.

My MH only has coax to each of the other two televisions. I put in an HDMI splitter and ran HDMI cable to the outside TV because I had easy enough access. For the Bedroom, I put in a HDMI-to-coax converter. It gives a true HDMI signal to the Bedroom. I use a RF remote instead of infrared so I can control the Walley from anywhere. Lots of options out there. Pick the mix of equipment and connections that fits your lifestyle and gives separate viewing options for the different TVs so everyone is happy. Good Luck with your mods!

SAT HDMI out to COAX TVs

Excellent options and inputs by all - thank you. Looks like the cheapest option is RCA to COAX converter. Found one for 16.00 Inc shipping. Will try that first. If picture quality isn't great to my digital TVs, will take the suggestion to extend HDMI to bedroom via one of the options noted. Again, very helpful and has given me options.

All the best, folks.

This HDMI over coax system is a bit more expensive but has much better reviews than the previously cited one. This is a point-to-point system and requires a box at both ends, but it claims to give full resolution HDMI at the receiving end.

SAT HDMI out to COAX TVs

Dock,

That seems pretty reasonable when moving HDMI to the other end of the coach. I have saved this link. If the picture isn't good with the RCA TO COAX adapter I will take your proposal and run. Thanks for the heads up.

Could you explain how you ran the "HDMI" cable to the bedroom!
I have on '04 Mountain Aire 3778, & there is the one coax from the (BOMB) to the rear TV. I have (2) 211Z's, & the rear second needs to be in the rear, in order for the remote to work.
Thanks for the information!

A follow up from my previous post: I got a OREI 1-to-2 HDMI splitter (v1.4, 4k, 5vdc) from Amazon (to connect two TVs to the Wally's single HDMI output) and connected the new HDMI cable I ran from the Wally receiver in the front entertainment cabinet to the bedroom TV. Works great!

I was not bothered by the reduced resolution I had with the old BOMB and coax setup up until now, but full high definition is great, plus I also ran some other cables (coax, network and rearview camera) at the same time for other purposes so the whole project was well worth it.

Once I determined a good route for the new cable(s), the installation was pretty easy. Total cost to get HDMI to the bedroom TV was $39 for a 50' HDMI cable from Monoprice, $19 for the HDMI splitter from Amazon and about 10 hours of my worthless time. Click image for larger version

Sorry for the thread hijack...

Does your satellite antenna have two coax outputs (if not you cannot have two receivers)? If so, you do not need to run a HDMI cable to the bedroom if you want the second receiver to be in the bedroom. Couldn't you just use the existing coax (disconnect from BOMB and connect to sat second coax output cable) to supply the satellite antenna feed from the front entertainment cabinet to the second receiver located in the bedroom (disconnect coax from TV) and connect that TV to the bedroom receiver with a short HDMI cable?

Otherwise, how I ran HDMI to the bedroom TV (note, I am feeding two TVs from one Wally receiver, I do not have two receivers though I also ran another coax to the bedroom TV cabinet in case I get a second receiver):

I wanted to supplement my 15 year old proprietary rear view camera that used to connect to a 15 year old, obsolete Panasonic dash stereo with a flip-up screen. So, I had to run a video and 12vdc cables from the front entertainment cabinet over the driver's seat to the back of the coach.

As long as I did that, I decided to run a new RG6 coax cable, HDMI cable and a network cable to the bedroom TV for updated capabilities as long as I was fishing cable.

It took weeks with a cocktail in hand to work out the path for the cables, but it works great!

Details: From that upper cabinet on the left through a 1.25" hole inside the cabinet into the boxed in valance over the window. In the rear end of the valance up to above the ceiling through a 1.25" hole, then inward to the speaker and then to the front A/C vent and through that into the duct.Attachment 245973
Shows how I got from the valance up through the ceiling.
Attachment 245974
Back through the A/C duct to the back of the bedroom.
Attachment 245975
To that back A/C vent by the closet, then out the duct to the space above the ceiling over to above the inside of the TV cabinet, then down through a 1.25" hole in the ceiling into the TV cabinet. Done!

Thought maybe pull down into cargo area and follow elec ,water, and what ever else and come up into cabinet or possibly conceal behind a trim piece. Inside corner cove moulding will leave hollow behind.
