Alaska getting internet & TV

We're headed to Alaska this summer. I currently have the AT&T car connect plan for internet via a MiFi unit and a Playmaker portable Dish Satellite antenna.

I'm guessing neither of these are going to work well in Canada. What are my options. Does AT&T service extend to Alaska?

The dish will likely not work. The satellites you normally use will be below the horizon. My satellite radio did not work.

You need to call AT&T to ask about access. Verizon provides reasonable coverage included with their unlimited plan.

Roaming is expensive so if AT&T does not have a plan you may be better off to get a temporary Verizon plan for your trip if ST&T does not offer a reasonable plan.

On another note. Be sure to take blackout window covers if you want to sleep in a dark room. I have pictures which show a beautiful sunset about 11:30 PM and sunrise about 2:00 AM.

Howdy!

We used our AT&T unlimited plus plan last year on our trip to Alaska. This plan covered our roaming in Canada. We had a couple of places in the Yukon where we used pullouts that we didn’t have coverage but for that matter no one does. AT&T worked well in Alaska also even better than our Verizon service. We gave up satellite over a year ago and now stream everything using DirecTV Now, Netflix’s and Amazon Prime. You need to check with AT&T to see if you plan is covered in Canada, we did before crossing. Our previous trip to Alaska we lost satellite in Calgary thats why elected to not even try.

In 2017 we also lost the satellite just North of Banff.

We had both AT&T and Verizon phones and found the Verizon coverage better.
That was just our comparison.

thx Dale
