I just purchased/received the ALFA AWUSO36H 1000mw (1W) 802.H b/g Long-Range USB Adapter. I see that the “Main Window” in very similar to the Realtek 500 mw ”Main Window” that I have been using..
The “Main Window” of both adapters are the same except with the new ALFA Main Window there is an additional feature.

Directly under the “Link Quality” Bar is a new bar “Tx Power =” 1% 1% Apply”
Under that bar is another bar 1%------------------------100%
There is nothing in the “User Manual V1.3” which address this feature.

Can anyone using this AlFA 1000mw (1W) Wi-Fi adapter tell me:

How this "Tx Power" feature is to be used.
When it is to be used.
Can damage be caused to the adapter or computer if used incorrectly?

I have checked the ALFA Home site and the latest User Manula does not address this feature. I have emailed ALFA with this question, but no answer yet.

I have left the Tx Power feature set at 1% and the unit appears to be performing well.

Thanks for any help.

I have an ALFA AWUSO36NH 2000mw (2W) 802.H b/g/n Long-Range USB Adapter.

I use the Ralink software that came with my 2W adapter. Under my "Link Quality" is a Signal Strength bar.
