Once you get in the habit of buying small (<$15) items on Prime you may never want to go to a store again. Rather than running around to several stores to find the specific item I want (if I can even find it), I just wait ~2-3 days and get exactly what I want.

I think I turn on my TV once per 6 months...

Audio books, real books, fishing, the internet, bikes, walking the dogs, video games, work...

I think though that I personally feel that much tv and movies are literally garbage. I've tried so hard, but they are mostly just so terrible... although I also did enjoy Bosch.. but it;'s really hard to keep me interested in a series tv show... and way harder to like most movies.

So.. that's that.

Here at my latest campsite I watched this guy next to me spend what seemed like hours trying to get his satellite dish working.. cracked me up. In and out he went.. moved it 40 times, changed cables, this that and the other... I dunno, I went to river and caught some rainbow trout.. he was still fiddling with it when I got back.

In the last year I rewatched Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, the Sopranos, Justified, The Office, Parks and Rec, and Arrested Development and I'm sure a couple of others. Several of the original series too although Netflix's originals seems to be a bit better.

The movies with both services are hit and miss but I can normally find something to take the edge off a rainy Saturday afternoon with too much effort. I do find that what I want to watch is not normally available and most first run stuff is out-- you'll need to pay your $4 or whatever to watch that. I buy movies through ultraviolet license mostly because that license isn't dependent on someone else's hardware.

I look at Prime Video as a free bonus with a service I'm buying anyway.
But parks and rec rules! Michael scott makes CRINGE so no, Sapranos (twice was enough!) Arrest dev early run YES, second run NOPE.. sons of anarchy ..NOPE terrible..haha

Have you seen Fringe?? Sounds like we have the same taste, when do we get to run into you on the road anyway?

I watched Fringe on first run...maybe again sometime just because Walternate was an awesome gimmick.

We dang near ran over each other through Colorado earlier this summer (we passed through Ouray in the first part of July). We'll be moving around again in the fall once it cools down.

FWIW if you like Bosch then you might like the kind of stuff we watch. Hardly anything we like is from the US. Most of what we stream comes from Acorn and Britbox. If you liked Bosch you might also like Wallender, Spiral, the Swedish version of the Bridge, and a whole host of other shows. Just because there isn't anything you like on OTA doesn't mean all video is bad.

90% of the time lately when I want to watch something on Prime I have to pay for it. I find it to be a waste.I rarely use it. I wanted to watch Bosch as I love the lead actor but never dedicated the time to get into it.

Amazon Prime video......

Try “Man in The High Castle”. It portrays the world as if Germany & Japan won WWII.

I bounce between Prime and Netflix to watch the series stuff; Bosch, Justified and the like. Always find a new series I like one of them. A series will last me sometime as Idownlaod and watch on the plane when I fly. On average I fly twice a week.

A Jack Ryan series will be coming on Prime on August 31. I just finished up Absentia which is a series with Stana Katic from Castle. My wife even got into it and wants more.

I would like to see Amazon offer Prime without video and music. But that won't happen as I bet they are somehow using the numbers in their favor even when it seems a lot of subscribers don't use the video. I would not pay $2 a month for it much less the $8.99 or whatever it is without shipping.

How long does it take to get your items without prime? When I have prime I get the stuff in 2-3 days. Without prime I get it in 3-4. Shipping is still free on over $35 and what doesn't cost $35 anymore.
Agreed.

The Amazon value to us is the ability to get a bunch of reasonably-priced stuff delivered to one place at the same time while we are on-the-road. We don't watch enough TV or listen to enough music to make that part of Prime attractive to us. As for their eBooks, as an academic I read a couple [paper] books a month -- and I pen a lot of comments/notes in the margins of their paper pages. A "non-notable" eBook would simply not be gratifying to me.

Guess I am just an old foggie when it comes to what Prime offers.

Yep. As a full timer this one feature is worth the price. Add in Prime photos and video and it's just cream on top. Love my Bosch. Hoping the Ryan series is as good.
Also, with prime there is never a question or problem returning something and it is always free. Not always the case when wasn't a prime member. Prime day I got an Alexa for $59 and I love that too. Well worth it IMO.

We have Prime and Netflix and of the two I love watching Prime the shows are great, but my wife likes Netflix so to each his/her own.

Some of the less well known streaming services provide interesting programming. We use both Acorn and Britbox; both feature British and Australian shows.
