Analog to Digital converter

Yes, analog to digital.
Why, I have Dish VIP722 without distant networks (they are out of business).
I am at an rv park and their cable is analog. I plug the parks analog cable into the "antenna in" port on the 722 but the 722 will only pickup digital signals. Thus I am looking for a analog to digital converter but have not been able to find one. Does anyone know of a analog to digital coax to coax converter?

Why not just buy a $8 rabbit ear antenna and plug it in? Will get local broadcast off air if that is what you want.

I don't think an analog to digital converter is even made, when the conversion from analog to digital tv signals took place what came out was converters that took the digital signal and converted it to an analog signal for older TVs. My question is, how is the campground transmitting an analog signal with everything being digital? This is very unusual.

It is common for the cable companies to distribute analog as a service to their customers. All the televisions I have seen still tune analog as well as digital if you make the correct tuner choices in the menu. It looks like you are feeding the signal to the wrong box and/or making the wrong choices on the TV.

Are you saying you don't have a "cable" connection in your wet bay with the ability to select cable or antenna or satellite on the TV set itself?
That is the only way that I know it works, others may have more knowledge.

I believe you would need an analog to digital converter to turn OTA, (antenna) signals into something an older TV would be able to receive. The TV in my RV's bedroom it of 2007 vintage and is analog. It will not process the TV signal from the antenna, but has no problem with cable. The TV up front is newer and will process the signal from the antenna, in HD and the cable. At some parks I will get both the analog and digital, (HD) stations. For the new TV I have to choose if I want cable or antenna and then have it scan for channels.

I have a windup bat wing antenna on the motor home that would be the same as using rabbit ears however at this park I can only pickup CBS over the air. However the park offers all networks plus others in analog format. I want to run it through the Dish DVR in order to record and bypass advertisements. I suspect Grandpere is correct that analog to digital devices were never made. I do wonder if digital to analog device would work in reverse? As far as selecting cable, antenna or SAT the VIP722 only wants digital format signal.

No, you can't use a digital to analog in reverse. And I'm not surprised the VIP722 will only record the digital channels. If it's receiving a digital signal, it just needs to save the bits to the drive. If it's getting an analog signal, it would need to digitize the signal to save it, which it doesn't have the hardware to do.

I expect you can watch it live, as your TV certainly has an analog tuner (as well as a digital one), but if you want to record it you need to use something other than your VIP722.

You have it backwards. The old TV signals were analog and the old receivers are analog. The new signals are digital so you need a digital to analog converter. D/A converters were dumped on the market with a rebate from the gummint when the switchover was done. Should be $10 or less at any flea market.

Many (All?) cable companies also are converting digital to analog at the head end and distributing Analog your 2007 TV will work fine with. It was a relatively cheap thing for them to do as a service to their customers.

The original problem is that the Dish receiver is not designed to deal with Cable signals. It is looking for Satellite channel output. Bypass the Dish receiver.

Pardon my error. I stand corrected.

Even if the cable was digital it would not work that way.

What happens if you turn the Sat Receiver OFF, will it then pass cable TV to the TVs

Second, how are you connecting the Sat Receiver to the TV,, Coax out to antenna in or... HDMI

If HDMI run the park cable to the TV's antenna jack.. In fact. that is exactly how I'm doing park Cable now here on 2 out of 3 sets and both DVR.s

My set up (I do not have sat at this time but I will describe how I'll do sat when/if I get it as well

Two chatty DVR's (They talk to each other and to my computers allowing me to do all those fancy thigns that "Only _____Lets you" do, for example record in one room watch in another, stop in the middle and switch rooms and take it with me on my hand held).

Each DVR currently has park cable coming into it's ANT jack, as do two of the 3 TV's in this RV (the third TV is hooked to the OTA anenna direct) on one of the TV I can switch to OTA by the push of a button easily.

OTA digital also goes to a pair of digital to analog converters, these connect to th DVR's using A/V 1 (line 1) input

Line 2 on one of the DVRs is a camera (Nose cam, like a dash cam but in front of the windshield)

Line 2 on the other is a VIP-211K Sat reciver, currently inactive.

The DVR's control the Digital converters via I/R blasters

In your case... I assume you re-tasked the park cable line for Sat TV .. Well, you need to "Undo" that and restore the original wiring, Then install a nice new length of quality RG-6 for the Satellite.

now, HDMI to the main TV if you can A/V if you can not (Red/Yellow/White jacks) the remote TV, if you have one, is going to need some modification to work. I can tell you how to mod the wireing for this if you need.

That about covers it.
