Anyone using a WaveWiFi Rogue?

This is a WiFi amplifier(?) to help you connect to public hotspots from up to 7 miles!! Cost is $350. I would appreciate comments from anyone who has used one.
The following is from their website: "This handy electronic device (technically a wireless bridge and Ethernet converter) is like putting your laptop (or WiFi equipped desktop) computer on WiFi steroids. Imagine "tying" into a Starbucks WiFi connection--blocks away from the store. It's possible--in fact, even longer connections can be possible."

There are legitimate products that can improve your ability to connect to wifi signals at campgrounds and other places. However, don't buy one thinking you can get a free internet connection by connecting to other people's access points. Firstly, the practical range of these systems is a lot less than 7 miles. Second, most knowledgeable wifi system owners (other than McDonalds, Starbucks, etc) encrypt their signals or, at least, require a password for their use. Lastly, accessing someone else's wifi without their consent is a violation of the law.

This last point applies even to places like Starbucks which have publicly available wifi; their wifi is provided for their customers not for the general public. I'm not saying that your local Starbucks will prosecute you for using their wifi from your home, but if you started streaming video on a regular basis they might.

Like docj said, most private WIFI's are at least password protected, so what do you do then? I can set in the town of Pigeon Forge Tn and pick up dozens of WIFI signals, but all are password protected the only one I can use is the one given out by my own hotel. There are a few in rest areas and some public places that have open WIFI, they are usually down town.

I am going to be looking for one of these widgets as there are campgrounds with multiple antennas between trees and sometimes the signal is just hard to get. This would be a legitimate way of using such a product.
