Ditto. Have not been in a bank since about 2005.

Even Skype with my grand daughter in the Army in South Korea. Nice we can see and talk to each other. Much finer than a phone call.

Technology came to the right amount of maturity just in time for us to F/T.

Verizon MIFI

What I am not sure of is if you can do this when still on 24 month contract. But I think you can, it just extends your contract by the number of month that you have it off. This work fine for me some times I will only have it on for week or so. You can do this on Verizon web site.
Yes, you can do this while still under the contract. (It extends the contract.) You can do it for 90 days, and then an additional 90 days.

Haha! I never even thought about mentioning Face-to-Face on my iPhone. I not only talk to my kids or grandkids, but we talk and see each other at the same time.

As an example, last Xmas, I was in bed recovering from surgery. My wife and the rest of the family were at my son's house with all the grandkids opening there presents. I felt really bad that I could not participate. Then I got a call from my son on his iPhone, we used Face-to-Face with the speaker phone capability, man was that great. I participated in the whole thing from my bed and it made my Xmas day so much better for it.

I have Broadband2go - MiFi 2200 - Virgin Mobil. Purchased it at Walmart. For travel I go online and activate for 10 days or 1 month - one time - no contract and no continuation. You get : $10/ 10 days 100 MB
$35 /1 month - 2 GB or $55 / 1 month - 5 GB. Don't know if that would meet your needs but it is easy and works well.

You got it pal.
There is more to life than thru-put, band width, and such.
Some only want to talk, and that is fine. But using the technology to our best advantage is a grand thing.
Some think it is too expensive. But the value of a handful of happy meals can go a very long way to staying better connected, visually connected with those that mean the most to us.
Beyond voice or text.
Beyond Facebook or Twitter.
The key is not "social media", it is family "face time" no matter the AP.

Bravo, sir.

Your subject line is funny I think anything has to be better than verison mifi. I switched to verison with apple iphones and they will not get 4g and usually poor 3g I can use a 56k phone modem and get faster than the 1xrrt they have. Now I am not in middle of nowhere I am 2 blocks from the city limits of the capital of Mn in a large suburb. It cost me 80 bucks a month for lack of performance on the contract. There support in the stores is a joke they can barely sell let alone fix or help....

Not meant that way. Just the message in my words. Sorry for confusion.

Verizon does offer month to month mifi so once your contract is up you could go w mo to mo and only buy time when you need it.

How do you suspend the service? Can you do it on-line or do you have to call customer service? Thanks!

Can I suspend it for 90 days, but turn it on during that time for a short trip, maybe a week or so, then suspend it again when we get back? Thanks!

Has anyone tried the Walmart "Internet To Go" Hotspot? Runs on the Sprint network. You just buy prepaid gigabytes as needed and they can be bought online. No contract. I am thinking about picking one up for when we are travelling in the States. We have an Aircard hotspot running on the Telus network in Canada but were warned not to use it in the States because of the prohibitive roaming charges.

My understanding as I read their web page, was that you could suspend the service (for up to 90 days), and that you could do that twice in a year. It also extends the contract time.
