AT&T Car Connect

I recently returned my Harman Spark because it stops working 10 minutes after you turn the car off. When I closed the AT&T Car Connect plan the guy did mention that there is a 3rd party power adapter that is supposed to mimic that the car is still turned on and the car is moving. He said he saw it in a Fourm but not sure which. Has anyone heard of this or has used it, and if so does it work?

For sale on Ebay for $ 45. Don't know if it actually works. USA Seller with 100% positive feedback. It is not too difficult to capture a OBD2 auto data bus session and program a device to do this , so it likely works.

There are several ways to do this, the Spark is looking for actual OBDII data from the port, unlike the older Mobley which just got its power from the OBDII port, so this device basically records then plays back OBDII data in an endless loop to fool the Spark into thinking it is in a running vehicle. The same can be accomplished with an OBD-II simulator, which is a training tool used for automotive technicians.

I did see the same item on Amazon and it says it works, had good reviews, but was hoping that some people in this Fourm has actually used this or another power adaptor. I tend to trust the reviews on this Fourm more then reviews on Amazon or other sites that are trying to sell the items. It doesn’t cost much, so I may just order it and get another Spark and the AT&T plan again.

Note that the device listing says at the top that the latest firmware will now require you to restart once per hour due to GPS geo-fencing
