At last, a satellite finder that works.
And it didn’t come from Direct TV, Dish or Winegard.
The best any of those could come up with is (find a clear view of the southern sky).
Only someone with zero time in a motorhome would say something like that.
So what is this finder of satellites?
It’s an app for my iPhone of all things.
Not only does it find the satellite, it shows it to you in the sky, real time.
It works through the iPhone camera.
It superimposes the satellite, a red dot, on the camera screen.
You hold your phone up until you see the red dot that is your satellite and because the app uses the camera you also see all the trees, bushes, billboards and motorhomes that are in the way.
Move around until your red dot is in the sky and not behind one of the above and you have a clear view of the satellite.
Then you put the phone in your pocket, set your wine glass on that spot, so you will remember where it is, and go get your dish.
Replace the wine glass with the dish and you’re good to go.
