Does anyone know anything about Auto net Mobile internet? Does it work? Is it worth $29.00 per month? Is it hard to install or should you get a professional installation? Thank you, Bill

Take a second VERY CLOSE LOOK at what that $29/month gets you and then find out how much it costs when you exceed those limits!
I can't answer the ease of installation answer as I have stayed as far away from this unit as possible.

Yes! An air card from one of the major wireless cell companies. We've had an AT&T card for 11 years and have been very satisfied -- sure, we can't get a signal sometimes depending on coverage, but overall we've had great service.

Most any air card beats that deal, but I believe that the AutoNet setup has an option to pay more and get a higher limit. Since the AutoNet is simply a Verizon card (I believe) built into a box with a router you should be able to get the same $60/month for 5GB of data that is available to all of the Sprint and Verizon and AT&T users.
From their website:
Our $29 monthly plan includes 1GB of data per month, and our $59 plan includes 5GB of data per month.
Maybe this is not Verizon as this is also from their website. These are terrible expected 3G speeds.
What kind of speeds can I expect?
Over the 3G network, download speeds average from 400kbps-800kbps. Upload ranges from 128kbps-300kbps. When not on 3G the average download is 120kbps-200kbps and 50kbps-100kbps for upload.

IIRC the autonet unit is little more than a Verizon MiFi 2200. Nothing wrong with that -- it's a trade of portability versus potentially better wired in reception (especially if you wire their unit into an external antenna).

That is the speeds we have been experiencing lately on the Verizon network, much slower than when we were in the same places a year ago. Right now in Tempe, AZ with a full strength signal, using a USB720 and CradlePoint CTR350 we are getting 530Kbs down and 460Kbs up, with 126ms latency.

YOu know... a 1-gig a month plan might not be a bad idea for me.. Most of the places I park have Free Wi-Fi.. SO I'd only need it for the occaional "overnight" off-the grid as it were.
For example.. I spent one day at Flying J (five bucks beats 20 though)

Although Verizon has been relatively fast the last week, tonight it is really slow.

I've used Autonet Mobile for over a year now, 1GB plan, no overages yet, decent speeds, easy install, been better than my T-Mobile aircard used previously.
