Back up camera not up to the task

My wife and I just purchased a 2000 Monaco diplomat. We bought it in Florida and drove it home to Michigan. I’m not sure how great the back up camera system was when it was new, but it truly was not worth much on the ride home. Does anyone have any reasonably priced solutions or options for a back up camera. What do you think of this one? It seems a little too good to be true, especially for the price.

Just an observation here. I've bought two electronics items in the last several months for my rig. I researched lots of similar models of each and in both cases chose to ignore reviews of other people that suggested better options. BIG mistake!

The first red flag I see with this product ( this was also true with one of my choices), is the chopped English (Chinglish) I see in some of their descriptions. A quality product by a quality manufacturer can at least insure their language translations are quality also. I'll venture that if you purchase this item, the owners manual will be almost worthless due to the illegibility of the English.

I don’t think the camera you linked would help. I guess the first question is what you want or expect a backup camera to do for you personally. That will help determine which type of system is the best for your needs.
I basically have the same rig as you. I use the rear camera for keeping an eye on my toad and to spot how far back I am in a campsite. I added a passenger side rear view mirror camera to assist with lane changes, specially in bad weather and for pivot reference when backing into a campsite. I hooked that camera into my gps display. If your rear view mirrors are like mine you will find they are of limited value in a rainstorm due to spotting and rain distortion on the curved windshield.

The GPS camera I added was around $100 and is of surprisingly good resolution in both sun and darkness. It could be mounted wherever you feel it needed most. Just a thought.
There are also good hardwired and wireless systems out there. The best system is the one that works for your needs and budget.

Here is a link to the camera I bought for the gps. This is not the company I used so price might be higher. But, you get the idea

We always choose Rear View Safety when it comes time to replace the camera and monitor.

Thank you all. I will check further. Do you expect my 2000 b&w wires will work with new camera/monitor? How about wireless? Seems you’d be challenged to get/keep a good signal.

My old cabled system had power, video, audio and ground conductors within a single 5mm cable. It had a coiled cable that plugged into a receptacle which I had mounted at the pinbox and the other end plugged into another receptacle I mounted on the side wall of my truck box in front of the wheel well next to my trailer power receptacle. The quick connects for the camera system vary by product but I would think if you manage that you should be able to make it work.
