I have an '08 Challenger by Keystone. It came with a 15" Legend TV mounted on a swing up mount in the bedroom. I want to mount a Sylvana 19" HD TV to the same mount but the mounting holes on the back of the Sylvana are wider. The Legend has holes 3" X 3" on center while the Sylvana has 3 15/16" X 3 15/16" center to center. I can't find an adapator plate anywhere (I also am not sure I am searching for the right thing). Anyone have any wonderful ideas?

I would try to fabricate my own adapter perhaps out of a piece of 1/2" plywood which could be painted black so it wouldn't be noticeable. You could drill holes in it to match the hole pattern of the TV and holes to match the hole pattern of the pull down bracket making sure they are aligned horizontally and vertically. Because the adapter would probably fit flush against the back of the TV when attached, I would countersink the holes for the bolts to the pull down bracket and use flat head machine screws. You could also use flat head screws to mount the plywood adapter to the TV if the pull down bracket plate overlaps the hole pattern on the TV. Otherwise you could use round head screws with washers.

You could probably get 1/4" aluminum at a home improvement store and make an adapter as described with plywood.

These mounts are not measured in inches but in millimeters. The 3" is really 75mm and the 3 15/16 is really 100mm. These are standard mounts and are called VESA HDTV mounts.

Also note that the screws into the back of the TV are not english, but metric. Make sure you get the right screws because they are usually supplied with the mount, not the TV. Check the following web page for other sizes: Flat Display Mounting Interface - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adapter plates are available online, but you will have to decide if its worth the $20 or easier to make your own.

Thanks for all the replies. I did figure out that the measurements are in metrics. I've found a few adjustment plates that I think will work and I also think that $20 is not too much for peace of mind that the TV will stay up there as we go down the road. Mounts and More has a non-VESA adapter plate that should work for about $18 plus shipping. I'm going to call them to be sure. I really think that I need a VESA plate. The smaller TV is 7.5cm center to center and the larger is 10cm. So I need an adapter plate that will attach to the swing mount (7.5cm) and then attach to the TV (10cm). I think that I must also pay attention to the depth of the bolts. A few of the sites mentioned that their plates come with a variety of different bolt lengths.

All this just so Moma can have an HD TV in the bedroom! If Moma isn't happy no one is happy.

Just ordered a VESA 75/100 adapter bracket from www.mountsandmore.com for $28 including shipping. Thanks to all - all y'al are just great! (All y'al is the plural of y'al).

Find an old body shop, not one of the chain shops like Collex but some shop run by a guy who is past retirement age who has been in the business since he worked for someone else as a teen. Odds are it won't take him 30 minutes to make the plate you need.
