Backup camera monitor color fade

We have an original Sony backup camera/monitor system that can display numerous functions on the screen just by advancing a switch. The issue is the monitor is very hard to see and the color is really washed out, otherwise it does function perfectly. Hoping for much better color and clarity.

Is this a bad monitor or a bad camera or both? Its a 2007 model on an American Tradition 42V.

Suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

The sun can cause image quality issues. If you're facing a different direction, does the picture improve? Perhaps a shield above/surrounding the lens would improve the picture.

The camera is sun shielded. The monitor quality is very good with the side cameras (they are new). I guess I just have to find a camera that is adaptable to the existing configuration up at the camera on the rear of the coach.
