Windows 7 Home premium SP1.

I bought Acronis True Image Home 2011 PC Backup & Recovery. I installed it and set it up.

As of 2 or 3 days ago when I go to wake up my machine in the morning it goes to a black reboot screen and gives me a choice to pick a safe mode or normal to restart my machine due to an abnormal shutdown.

Although Acronis will shut the machine down after a backup, I left the box unchecked.

I did get an eMail report that my backup went through last night.

After the system starts I get a window that states that I had a Blue Screen Error. I click on "look for a solution" however none is returned and there's no dialog that states that it couldn't find one.

The media that came out of the box was defective and I had to go on their website to download the application. That was the 1st problem right off the bat but I was willing to give it a shot. At this point I am going to Uninstall this software and probably have to eat the cost. This is basically what changed on my machine over the past week and I need to begin ruling out the issues.

What backup solution is working for you at the moment? I was using Memeo that came with my new Seagate 2GB goFlex Desk drive. The basic backup that came with the drive is OK but it begins backing up the machine when I'm working. The Memeo "Sync" is pretty nice though since it mirrors whatever directory I assign it on both the machine and ext HD.

Memeo makes a full featured backup application which I am considering installing if I uninstall the Acronis.

I've been using Norton Ghost for at least ten years. I have two hard drives installed and image to the other one every couple of weeks. I don't do incremental backups so I would lose anything done in the intervening period.
The version of Ghost I use boots to PC DOS and images one drive to the other.
I also have the backup drive disabled in the device manager so if my main drive gets infected the backup doesn't.
If I get a failure or problem from my main drive, I simply swap internal cables to the drives and go on my way. The method has saved my butt more than once.

Hi DriVer,
This is another vote for the current version Ghost. There is another Symantec application called Save and Restore. I've used both with great success. They work as advertised and I would purchase them again.

I've used them all and it seems every time I do a back up, my computer won't shut down normally. I have to hold the power button.I went to a back up called easeUS TODO. It is the only one I could get to do incrementals without stalling at 25%.
