One of the major things we're missing in our RV is GPS. We have it in our Acura RL and it is a god send. Since we have a really good laptop we saw that the are several GPS addons..and they're cheap. Like a 100 bucks. Anyone have experience or recomendations?

For the past 10 years we have had an onboard navigation system in our motorhomes. We use a current version of DeLorme Street Atlas on our laptop which has an old but reliable Garmin 45 GPS receiver attached to a serial port. Garmin supports most GPS receiver.

Since laptop are generally hard to read in the sunlight, we have a 9 inch TV sitting on top of the dash. The resolution is not as good as a monitor, but it is usable.

I wouldn't leave home without it.

PS: In my last post I said "Garmin supports most GPS receiver."

It should be "DeLorme supports most GPS receivers"

I have used the MS streets and trips for past 5+ years and would not leave home without it also. Last year we purchased the program and the GPS receiver that comes with the program and it works great. We no longer use our Garmin GPS which we did have some problems with when it was used as the GPS for streets and trips program. Have been thinking of purchasing the Delorme system and travelling with it for a year to do a real comparison of the two programs. From what I read, the Delorme has a few great advantages over the S&T.
