Hello,
I am looking for either a paging/intercom system for our RV. It would need to run on 12V, which eliminates a lot of systems otherwise installed in houses. I was hoping to find a wireless system, similar to a baby monitoring system. The goal is for two way communication to the rear of the rig, to the bathroom and outside under the awning.
Any suggestions?

Have you considered opening a window? No power at all required!

That is funny. Thanks.
I know it might seem like a stange thing to think that we need intercoms in a 30' motorhome. But my wife is in a wheelchair and doesn't get around easily. So, it is common for her to yell for me or my son when she needs something. If we can have an "all points" intercom system, it would me for a much more peaceful in our camping world.
Thanks for the reply though.

www.gadgetshack.com has a Portable Wireless Intercom System that runs on batteries (or plug in wall with adapter) for $124.00.

Would rechargeable FRS radios work for you?

Following up on Dirk's suggestion, you could get two sets of rechargable FRS radios for less than the price of the portable wireless intercom. With two sets, you could put them all on the same channel and have fresh spares ready to go whenever you want them.
The only potential issues is when someone else close by as and FRS radio on the same channel. With the new ones, there are subchannels and it is usually easy enough to find a channel that isn't in use.

Thanks for the replys guys. I like the radio idea. I see a lot of potential with that and it could have some other benefits as well. Plus, if these are the kind that are typically in chargers when they are not in use, I could set a charging station in the back, and one in the front. That would work well to charge when the generators are running. This might be a functional idea.
I like the wireless intercom idea as well. I would need four stations, so that would be about $250. I will compare that to the cost of radios.
Thanks again.
