Can I pickup a Wi-Fi signal boost it and send it to another device?
I'm not sure how this stuff works - but what I want to do is to pickup the Wifi signal from my backup camera, boost it and then send that signal to the display monitor (which is an OverDryve 7 RV unit. Basically an Android device).
The backup camera is mounted to the license plate frame and it has a short cable that goes to the Wifi transmitter box. I can pickup the camera signal on the OverDryve unit but it is weak and keeps dropping out.
How can I boost this signal? Is it possible?
If that wont work, I may be able to cut the cable from camera to Wifi transmitter and extend the cable so I can mount the transmitter inside the coach (rather than in the engine bay where it is located now).

I think you can do that with a WiFi extender. Basically, it will take a WiFi signal and retransmit it. Here’s a current list from a website with their picks:

I have used an older router to do this at a state park. It worked ok for what I needed.

We use a wifi extender in the S&B to extend our home wifi over the the guest house.

I think you need to check the specs on your camera to see if it's wifi or bluetooth to determine exactly what you need.

You might find it easier to get a short pigtail cable and relocate the antenna 3-4 feet to a point where it gets better signal. Watching the video in your link it appears the screw on antenna uses either an SMA or RP-SMA connector, most likely RP-SMA, though I have seen both used for such devices. Just keep the cable short as attenuation losses are high at the frequencies used by wifi.

That's a great idea. I didn't know there was a cable available to move the antenna.
If I can not get that cable, do you think there would be a problem cutting the cable between the camera and transmitter and splicing in 3 feet to that cable? It's a thin cable but maybe some CAT5 or 6 will work for the splice. Or would the Wifi extender be the next best choice if the antenna cable is not available?

I suspect this would do what you need, if 4 feet is long enough to get to a point inside the coach. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Multi-Band-...l/372011067569 Just pick the right connector and right gender for the connection, the difference between SMA and RP-SMA is the center post.
