Can I Use Old Winegard Carryout w/ViP-211k ?

Can I Use Old Winegard Carryout with my new Dish ViP-211k receiver ?

My ViP-211k is hooked up to a stationary dish and working fine. I have never used this old Winegard Carryout (got it used with the coach). I plugged it in today (to 12v) also connected the rf cable to my receiver. I took the cover off the CarryOut so I could see it work and it appears to be pointing the correct direction. I did NOT put the receiver through any set-up since it was already working with the stationary dish. I did not receive any channels. Do I need to go through the set-up (check switch, etc.) on the receiver now that I've connected a different dish or is it just that this Carryout is old technology that will not work at all with the ViP-211k?

PS - Yes, I did set the dip switches inside for DISH per the label

Yes, you will have to run check switch when switching antenna. I am not sure whether it will work with the new DISH Satellite code, but it won't hurt to try.

Yes sir, you can use it. I use one of the old Carryouts with my 211K receiver any time the roof dome is blocked by trees. We just returned from six weeks on the road and I used the Carryout at least six times. Since you are changing antenna types, you will have to run the check dish routine. I don't have to since I am changing from dome to dome, and that's one reason I'm hesitant to change to a Trav'ler.

Thanks for the info. We are using a ground mounted stationary dish right now (it was left here at our space), so when we leave - we'll leave that too for the next occupant. In the future, we'll use our carryout, so that'll make things easier after that.
Thanks again,
