Any one have any suggestions? I have turned all the knobs, no sound.

What is the brand aand model? Do a Google search for a manual for that model.

Do you get any sound fom the speaker? Have you checked the swr of the antena.

You probably have the squelch turned up very high. Look for a knob labeled "squelch" or "sq". Turn it all the way off (usually counterclockwise). You should hear static. If you do then turn it just past the point where the static disappears. If you don't hear static with the squelch off then it's likely that an external speaker has been connected to the speaker output and isn't functioning, perhaps due to a loose connection, incompletely inserted plug, or blown speaker.

There are two wires running from it, I'll check the squelch first, thanks

You may also have a bad Mic cable.. (Some of them run the speaker through the mic to switch it off when you transmit) To be honest this is a hands on job for diagnosis.

If it is a "Stand alone" CB, on the back there should be two 1/8" Phone type jacks (headphone jacks) if you have any portable speaker (Computer speakers) or headset plug into the one marked PA and with the volume control set fairly low see if you hear anything in RECEIVE, turn the switch to PA on the front and press the mic, see if you hear anything (use a headset for this)

Plug into the other one (Ext Speaker) and see if you hear anything on receive.

Post back.

Could also have a bad internal speaker (or external speaker)

I rather favor external speakers, There are some very good ones out there way better than what is inside, course some cost like 200-400 dollars.

if there is an RF gain knob, turn it all the way on and then play around with the squelch.

I'm not sure if I am doing this in the correct place or not. It seemed that the post had run out of answers.
So, I just purchased a Kindle /Fire a couple of weeks ago. Other than the obvious books and magazines, is anyone aware of any apps that might be specific to our RV style of living.
Thanks from an Electronic Novice.

You mentioned that there are a couple of wires coming off of the back... They may have had it set up to play through the RV's speakers in witch case you'll need the radio on to hear it and possibly turned to AUX.

This is a thread on a CB radio that is not working.. I do not have a Kindle (Want one but alas, not any time soon) so can not help you.

You might do better to start a new thread on the topic.

GOOD NEWS
I just had to turn the squelch knob all the way left and it started receiving noise, but I'm parked in a garage, so I don't expect it to receive anything.
At least it is doing something now, I'll try it next trip in a week or so. I never used one before and it's got about 5 knobs to play around with.

Thanks for your help, I love this site!
