CBS no longer wants satellite customers to watch their network

CBS is no longer allowing Directv (and maybe Dish) customers to watch their network and any other networks that CBS owns. Is this just temporary or will this make satellite TV of little value, if NBC and ABC does the same?

We went through this last year. Dish network and NBC were negotiating a new contract. I get my local channels via Dish. I bought a $20 set of "Rabbit Ears" and used them to get NBC so I could watch NASCAR racing.

not quite. the agreement between CBS and AT&T (which owns DirecTV) has expired. the two did not reach an agreement of a new fee structure so AT&T dropped CBS from DTV and their U-Verse systems. This happens frequently and is usually resolved. This will have no affect on DISH, Comcast or other cable tv systems all of which have their own agreements.

Let's make sure we are talking facts and not opinions. Don't get me wrong. The contract issues for DTV fighting with CBS and Nexstar are not making me happy. Still, to me, this is not an issue of CBS/Nexstar now wanting to be broadcasted by DTV but a contract dispute.

Frankly, I don't take the word of either side but just for reference, TVPromise.att.com is the mouth piece site for DTV. Consider it with as much skepticism as it is due.

CBS wants you to join their stream service that you pay for. Disney will probably do the same with ABC!

Even if that dispute is resolved, you can't watch your local channels if you travel too far away due to spot beam.
If you have DirectTV and AT&T phone, you can stream for free, but if you plug it to a TV it gets disabled for live TV unless you somehow get around that.

And I can't right now

I think it's only certain markets. You can google "nexstar directv" and get more than you really wanted to know
