I am considering installing an external cell phone antenna, probably the Wilson dual band RV/Trucker model 30119, on the roof of my motorhome. How much higher than the standard RV air conditioner does it extend? Identified height of antenna mounted is 18" but how tall is the air conditioner cover? Concerned about low underpasses, etc. Anyone done this? Thanks.

I e-mailed wpsantennas.com with questions re 30119 antenna. Got an answer right back addressing my concerns. Antenna can be disconnected after mounting either on roof or inside RV to facilitate covering RV while stored. Checked with the posting you mentioned and looked good. Placed my order, it shipped same day. Don't anticipate problems with clearance, will just have to remember it's up there. Will post further results. Thanks to all.

Installed my antenna this weekend without a hitch. Instructions were a little off and I had to call for clarification, good tech support. Antenna spring will allow it to bend if it hits an obstruction. Now to find a weak cell spot.

Just to add some info, I have that antenna on my 5er and it adds about 3 bars to the signal strength. Works great.

I am in an area where my Verizon phone is on extended service. Maintaining connection is spotty at best. Not only does the service drop calls; there are times when a roaming network is all that's availalbe.
Will an external antenna help this situation?

Smoothtalker.com has a tutorial that is very helpful. I have one of these (BST800) and on ANALOG
only it is very powerful in an area of Wyoming Big Horn mountains where it's very difficult to get a signal.

The digital side of my booster is fried and I'm sending it back for warranty repair. Very responsive company. Once that's fixed, I'm hoping to be able to use my Verizon V620 air card (internet connection).
