I am in a campsite that has less than optimal cell reception. I know that there is a booster antenna I can buy. What do you folks recommend? How hard to install? What is it powered by? How much does it help out? Thanks.

I use the Wilson cell booster. It will not provide a magical improvement. If you have 1 bar you can get 3 with the booster. I was in a campground that they said "no one gets cell here" and if I left my phone by the inside antenna I could get email and voicemail but could not connect for a full phone call.

The install will depend on your coach. You have to add the external antenna on the roof. Then run the wire inside to a small box that has a 110 plug. Then you run from there to the inside antenna (the two antenna's have to be 20+ feet apart). I think it fills the signal coverage enough that they are worth the money on every coach.

I have been using a Wilson Cell Antenna and Amp for some time now. I had it rigged as a portable unit. But, today I mounted permanent.

I mounted the Amp under the dash in the passenger foot well on the fire wall. I made some standoffs so it could cool properly, as it gets pretty warm.

Next I ran the Amp output cable up to the dash area via a small hole with a rubber grommet.

Does it make a difference. Here is a before and after photo. These photos were taken at Cider Ridge COE park in Belton, TX.

Before - No Antenna/AMP

After - With Antenna/AMP

I have the same Wilson antenna and amplifier as Dale.

For a cell phone, you will either need an adapter for your phone (check this site to see if your cell phone has an adapter available), or a universal adapter.
