Verizon vs at&t while traveling. Who’s paying what and how is service.

We have Verizon...they have a Senior age plan....two phones...unlimited...I believe 120 a month for both....I haven't got a bill yet...just switched last month.

We use ATT but that was due to coverage at home years ago. Not really seen a need to change yet due to travel. We do pay a ton with high data limit and one son still on our plan.

We have AT&T and Verizon. DW worked from motorhome and found that both are good most of the time but both have weak signal at different places. We pay $20/month for unlimited data for each one, mobley for AT&T and found a special plan for Verizon.

We use T-Mobile 55+ plan which is $70 a month for two lines and unlimited data. They do throttle you back after 25 gigs/per line or so but even throttled back we can stream off our fire stick.
We also use an ATT cheap plan for the rare occasion when we cannot get T-mobile coverage.

We have the ATT Mobley plan and Verizon for our cell phones. I found ATT coverage a bit weaker than Verizon in remote areas of the West.

Rates are similar for equivalent service - they are major competitors. The real concern is which one has better overage where you travel. Both AT&T and Verizon are nationwide and serve about the same number of customers, but Verizon generally has better coverage in rural areas while AT&T excels in metro areas. Neither, though, has 100% geographic coverage. If your phone doesn't wok where you are, the price is irrelevant!

We have found ATT, GSM very poor or non existent in many rural areas as well

Many full-timers who travel cross-country or those who work from their RVs have two plans - AT&T & Verizon. That way they're always covered. We traveled mostly in the West and Verizon worked well for us, including in the boondocks. We found there are very few places nowadays that a cell phone doesn't work and we traveled off the beaten path all the time. We didn't do congested areas.

Ditto. We find Verizon has much better coverage than ATT in many of the places that we go to. Sometimes the opposite but in general Verizon is much better.

I just moved to AT&T. I live in Canada, travel mostly in the US. Their $40 unlimited voice, 8GB data in US, Canada and Mexico plan is very attractive.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned that "the buzz" for the past month has been about a new prepaid Verizon plan just for Jetpacks (hotspots) that is truly unlimited with no throttling except for network congestion. The plan costs $70/mo with a $5 discount for automatic payment. We have one and it's worked well so far. Prepaid plans can be throttled for network congestion but we haven't experienced more than a few minutes of that over the past several weeks. We've already used ~50GB on it.

As for comparison of AT&T vs Verizon, Verizon is definitely better in the rural mountain west states. This summer there were several places we stayed where AT&T was nonexistent. In cities I haven't seen all that much of a difference. Some places AT&T is faster, in others Verizon is.

Att for main. Xfinity Verizon as needed. Spot satellite to text/locate for no coverage areas or emergency (also allows us to share tracking with family).

Since we are not full time, the ability to use the Xfinity Verizon at will (no cost unless data is needed) is a big saver.

Never have used AT&T but Verizon has awesome coverage. Been all over the US with great coverage. We have two smartphones with unlimited data and total each month is around $170 for both.
