Is anyone using the Cellular South Mi-Fi internet service? We have our phones with them now and have been very happy with the service. We are not ones to stay on the internet a lot while we travel, just want to check e-mail and Facebook daily and maybe do a little browsing for campgrounds, attractions, etc. They offer a 1 GB package for only 19.95 monthly and a one-time charge of 39.95 for the Mi-Fi unit. Using the calculator on their website it looks like the 1GB will be plenty for us. What do you think? By the way, Cellular South does not tether internet to their phones.

Joe & Annette,
I just switched from a USB-881 (AT&T) to the AT&T MiFi. I have only had it about a week. We are sitting in an area that has 1 bar on the cell phone. The MiFi is working fine. Just consider that your calculations would have to be based on two users, so double everything you came up with. At 1 GB a month it would be 500 MB each person on average. If you feel this is right for you then go for it. It is a lot cheaper than paying for a connectivity card for each of you. Also, I have found with the USB-881 that sitting in my "favorite" chair I would have to change it from one side of the laptop to the other to get a signal. With the MiFi, you find a location in the RV that has a good signal ration and leave it there until you move the RV.
Happy trails.

My wife and I use the Internet a lot and seldom go over 3GB per month. What is the charge if you go beyond 1GB?

We've had our Mifi for a little over a month now and have the 5GB limit. We would never use that amount in a month, but my mom came up to see us and I gave her the password for the Mifi so she could use her laptop while she was here. She ended up watching a bunch of movies and used up our entire limit in one weekend. Moral of the story...don't give your password to anyone!!

If you go over 1GB they charge you another 19.95 for an additional 1GB. That sounds reasonable doesn't it?

At that rate, 5Gb would cost $100. A 5 Gb plan would only be $60, so a smaller plan, but more than 1 Gb may be more feasible.

we have been on the Verizon MiFi for well over a year now. We have been spoiled with hi speed dsl at home. But when we are on the road the mifi is great. Just a bit slower.
We suspend our mifi contract when we are not on the road and reactivate when we get back on the road. We do that from VZ manager from our computer. It does extend your contract expiration date when you do that.
We found many people in Florida over the winter using mifi's. Service pretty much mirrors cell phone reception. We lost service while going through the hills of West Virginia but only for a short time. DW is facebooking on the road all the time. We have the 5g plan and have never come close but it is a business expense of $50.00 a month. Well worth the price.
