Purchased a new KVH dome antenna for use with the DISH (HD) network. As luck would have it, the one slot available in the RV park we are at has a tree blocking the satellite signal. I do have a DIRECTV tripod and antenna stowed down below. Would it be possible to change the LNB on the tripod to receive the DISH signal? The portable antenna could solve the reception problem. Anything else I need to be aware of to make the change?

Don't you have to be able to skew the dish to get both satellites on Dish TV?

Dish receivers are smarter than DirecTV receivers and many users.
Thus, if you hook a DirecTV antenna to a dish receiver, tell the receiver you are using a DISH-300, when you run CHECK SWITCH, it will adapt to the DirecTV LNB and work perfectly,
The reverse is not true.
The only problem... DISH-300 class antennas can see ONE and only ONE satellite. 110, 119 or I think it's 127 or 129, To get a different show you may have to go out, re-aim and re-run Check Switch.
Changing to the twin or Triplet LNB used by Dish, might work, but would not expect it to, the Dishnetwork multiple LNB dish is oval shaped for a reason. The round DirecTV dish simply is not there for the outer LNB's and it does not "Tilt" (Skew" properly.
