I'm doing some work on my satellite system in the coach and need to find diplexers that will work with HD signals. This will allow me to run the satellite signal and the OTA signal on the same coax. They need to have one side that passes the powered satellite signal. All the ones I have tested so far, kill the HD signal - not enough bandwidth. In each case the seller has assured me that they work with HD signals. Would like to see if anyone out there has experience with one that works.
I am also setting up so I can have a tripod dish setup to use when we can't get a clear view of the Southern sky. I need high quality A/B switches for switching sources. Again, does anyone have a recommendation?
Thanks for any input you may provide!

First it would be nice to know if you are using DISH or DirecHDTV. Dish should pass with a regular diplexer and/or switch
For switches I normally use something like the RCA VH71 .. It should not care much about bandwidth,
The problem is DirecTV uses two satellite bands and does some fancy dual conversion stuff and that may be where you are running into problems.. I'm not all that good on the dual band DIREC stuff.
I see you posted this in another forum as well... Try Bill Adams of Internet Everwhere., He does both internet and Satellite TV and frankly knows his stuff.. In the other forum you posted in I said I thought he was a member here but could not find him.. Well.. I tried that search again.. He is a member here. Found him... Posts uner his real name.

Sorry about that! Didn't realize that Dish And DirecTV were different like that. I use DirecTV. There may not be a diplexer that works for them. I am prepared to run cable, if I must.
Thanks for your reply.

I'm just about finished extending my RV based DirecTV system just as you described. Although incomplete, I did the same on my boat without a problem. I'm not using anything too fancy. Here's a link to one that claims to be for use with DirecTV. On the SatTV side it passes receiver voltage and 950-2300MHz while the OTA side passes 5-860MHz.

Bill may still officially be a member of iRV2, but he is no longer posting here. Read his farewell.

I am using the same Radio Shack A/B switch I have used for years with my old SD dish and it works fine. I have compared all of the transponder signal strengths on the 99,101, and 103 satellites and there is no difference with it in or out.
For DirectTV the HD Ka band LNB frequencies are between 250Mhz and 750Mhz and either a B-Band up converter or the satellite receiver up-converts the B-Band into a 1650-2150Mhz usable spectrum.
The diplexer I was using kills the HD signals as you mentioned and it is supposed to pass 40 to 2150 MHz which covers the frequencies above so I'm not sure why it won't work.
I understand there is is a 22 KHz tone that is used to switch satellites. I wonder if the diplexer is attenuating that signal?
This is what I found on the tone.
"22 KHz tone:
OFF = Ku-101 and Ka-99
ON = Ku-110/119 and Ka-103"

Appreciate the feedback. I’ve attached a diagram of what I am trying to do. If I can make this work, I won’t have to run any extra cables, which I really don’t want to do.
I am using a Winegard TRAV’LER SK-3005 roof mounted dish. It has 4 outputs that appear to me to be coming from an internal multi switch. I currently have them running directly to the DirecTV HD receivers. One output to one receiver input. Reception is great. However, I don’t have the ability to use OTA, or cable (when in a park that has it). As I said previously, I haven’t been able to find diplexers that will pass the signal. If I can find any, I’ll certainly post it here as soon as I know it works. I’m sure others are having the same dilemma.

It seems like I remember reading that either the Ka signal or the switching signal for the Ka is not compatable with the OTA signal thru a diplexer. Something about them using the same frequency. Or maybe it was OTA and SWM.
I know this isn't much help, but it might point you in the right direction.
