What is the best way to keep the Virus Win32 Trojan and other variations of the Win32 virus off your computer?

My Avast has been picking these up during it's daily full scan, but was wondering if these virus's are already doing damage before the scan starts?

Thanks,

Ron

Sounds like your scan removes everything it finds and on reboot something is re installing the virus. Try booting up in safe mode then run a scan.

If it realy is a trojan and not some other software causing a false alert, you more than likely have a Root Kit virus.. these reload every time. Try MalwareBytes Malwarebytes.

Also, turn off your Restore Points before doing this as some virus will hide there. Control Panel > System Properties > System Restore > "Turn off System Restore", reboot.

The actual removal instructions depends on which one it is...

Ron,
There is no guarantee that any one program will eliminate a virus, malware, or spyware. It is best to run as many of the anti-virus, malware and spyware removal tools that are available.

Spybot - Search And Destroy
Malwarebytes - Anti Malware
and
A-Squared free

Those are the leading anti-spywre and malware programs, and they are free.

If you search on the subject win32 trojan you will come up with a lot of hits on how to remove the virus. As I stated, there is no guarantee that any one program will remove a virus. So run as many free programs as you can. If you know for sure that you have a good restore point, then do restore from that point. Win32 trojan does not like restore.

Avast is not doing a good job on removal. It is a trojan, not a virus. An easy spyware program to use is SUPERAntiSpyware.com | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!

AVG has protected my computer for many years. There is a free download and a charge download. The free one does not get any of their support but I have never needed it.

I have been happy with Avast and Malwarebytes.

My concern is, if you pick up something on the net before your Antivirus program runs a scan, is it doing damage in the meantime?

Thanks,

Ron

Also, I ask this in a previous post about why my Smiley's are not working.

How do I get them to start working again.

Maybe I need to post this question in another post.

Thanks,

Ron

My AVG anti virus has spotted problems as soon as they are encountered.

Smileys; are you using the Advanced reply box?

I guess I don't see that option after all.

All I see is Go Advanced in the Quick Reply text box, but choosing it still does not let me use Smiley's

For some reason I am not seeing "Advanced Reply Box"

Thanks,

Ron

I have Free Avast installed on my computer. If I go to a website that has some virus on it, Avast will stop the connection cold before it can get to me. This happened just a couple of days ago with a web site that was good a month ago. Somewhere in the connection to the company web site, it tried to link to another site. That is where Avast detected the virus. It blocked the connect before any damage to me occurred. It reported the bad link and what it was to me. I sent that info to the company website and they had it fixed in a couple of days.

I think that the 'real time' scan of any web links is default because I do not remember setting that up.
