Convert braund to winegard sensar antenna

Anyone have any experience putting a Wineguard Sensar (two legged) antennae on the.old Braund three leg motorized mount?

I investigated converting to the Winegard when my Braund bit the dust. I fabricated a mounting bracket from several pieces of aluminum angle and replaced it with a Jack. One of my concerns was weight of a new antenna and its affect on the operation of the electric lift/park portion of the Braund operation. I don't know what the weight of a Winegard head is but if it is heavier than the Braund then I suspect there may be problems with the lift/park operation.

The Jack works OK but I'm having problems getting power to the amplifier in the Jack antenna and suspect I have a bad coax.

Although my bracket allowed me to mount the Jack, I think if I had to do it over I would just get an omni-directional antenna and remove the Braund arms and mount altogether. From all the talk on these forums I assume the coverage of an omni antenna is worse than either the Jack or the Winegard but I don't watch much television and can live with limited coverage. If I wanted good reception and lots of channels I would go with a satellite system.

If your antenna is like my old one then the amplifier used with that antenna doesn't do anything for UHF channels which is where most of the new DTV channels are located.

I too made a bracket and installed the Jack onto the legs of the Braund.

It worked fine until..........

A tree caught it in passing just like the original Braund setup and messed up the legs.

I removed the Braund and filled in the roof hole. No antenna for the past year. No worries.

We use Direct TV or the Campground cable.
