Purchased 06 american Tradition. It has analog TV's. I understand I need a converter box, but where do and how to hook up so all tv's get converted signal.
Have a good power antenna for analog, do not want to replace. Any help?

Buy a conv box (one for each tv works best) Ant in from ant and ant out to tv. Mine came with a remote. I am sure this is not the only way to do it, but that was the way mine worked out...

Like noted, best to put a converter box on each TV. The antenna is fine for the digital TV. You might want to add a Wingman to the antenna to help on the signals. Digital TV is in the higher frequency bands (UHF) for the most part. The antennas are more directional and must be pointed more precisely.

If you have a video selector switch, you can use 1 digital converter box and put it in-line with VCR input to the switch. Then select VCR for both TV1 and TV2 and the digital conveter box will feed both TV's. Select 'Antenna' for VCR and this will feed both TV's.

Downside is that you can only watch the same channel on both TV's at the same time.

Available at Wal-mart for around $35 I think. And as others have said you really do want one per TV otherwise each TV would have to watch the same channel.

VietVet,

If you go to search on this forum you should find info on installing a digital converter.

One thing to remember is that the anteena you currently have has a pre-amp in it which is powered by the switch box if you have one or the antenna jack with the little red led on it. If you disconnect the antenna lead from it and go to a converter you will loose power to antenna.

Now on my RV I have a switch box and I wired the converter into the aux input. That is to say. I put a splitter in the antenna lead that will pass DC voltage(purchased at Radio Shack) and connected the side that passes DC back to Antenna input. I took the other side of that splitter and went to converter antenna input. took the output of the digital converter and connected it to Aux input on switch box. I took the Antenna lead it self from the antenna and connected it to the input side of the splitter.

Now if I want to watch a station that is an analog station I push in the TV button as I used to do, however if I want to watch a digital signal I push in the Aux button and watch a digital signal. Everything else wotks the way it did.

Good luck wiring it,

Where do you find an analog signal? Are not all broadcast signals now digital with few exceptions?

I have a 1986 Toyota Sunland Express with the crank up antenna.........I assume I have to buy the converter box in order to watch TV? OR will the new LCD's pic up the signal?
I'm confused about analog and digital since I thought all signals were being broadcast in digital currently......so what is the converter box for?

Your new TV should be capable of receiving digital TV without needing a comnverter box.

The aiming of your antenna is far more critical with digital TV reception as you will not get aweak signal until you are pointed nearly right on! You also will need to scan for channels at each different location.

The scanning is required for those with newer TVs and also those using converter boxes.

Whatever you do do NOT put the box on the antenna side of the antenna/cable switch, it will kill the antenna and may suffere damage if you put it there

Antenna----That switch===(Multiple calbes)--Converter--TV

That is the hook up path.. THe box goes near the TV.. So long as the box has analog pass through no other adaption is needed.

If you get an old box with no analog passthrough. E-mail me and I'll "fix" it for you. (Tell you how one of mine is installed)

THe new Tv's are digital and therefore no converter box is required

Wildtoad,
I was out West and some small towns still have analog signals. Some in Canada have analog signals. So with my connections you can have the best of both worlds.
