Cradlepoint and aircard on 24/7 OK?

I tend to leave my Cradlepoint CTR350 and Verizon USB aircard on (connected) days at a time. Is there any problem with doing that? (I use "protection")

The reason I ask is that when I plug the aircard directly into my laptop and use Verizon Access Manager, I am often asked to update something or other. Just wonder if there are any network issues with leaving the router with card up continually?

two2go,

I have a Cradlepoint Model CRT500, with a AT&T USB Sierra Wireless AirCard Model 875U, 2 HP laptops and a wireless HP Photosmart C4580 all-in-one in our Winnebago. The AirCard goes "Stupid" if I leave it on for over 24 hours. The Cradlepoint wireless network is not affected as I can still print and connect to the other laptop even with the AirCard in "Stupid" mode. Unplugging the Sierra AirCard from the Cradlepoint and then reinserting fixes everything for another 24 hours. I don't know if the problem is with the Cradlepoint or the AT&T AirCard. Both units have current firmware. I plug the AirCard into the laptop every so often to get the updates and to check on usage.
I don't know if the AirCard goes "Stupid" when connected directly to the laptop as the laptop enters sleep mode and powers off the Aircard. I haven't bothered to change the power settings on the laptop to run this test.
I love the mobile "Hotspot" and don't really mind the morning AirCard reboot.
Hope this helps.
David

You guys are using different modem setups, so maybe this isn't applicable, but I use Verizon Wireless with their USB modem (air card), and it is almost always plugged into my laptop which starts, stops and hibernates many times every day. I get coverage updates most days. No issues.

I leave my card(s) and Cradlepoint running all day everyday. I do take the air card and plug it into my computer about once a month or so to allow it to update the software card information. Cradlepoint added this update option into their software but I found that it caused problems when I ran this when I then wanted to use the card in my computer with VZAM.

We use (and love) the Cradlepoint CTR 350 and Verizon USB Aircard. We used to experience the same "stupid" mode and had to unplug power to the Cradlepoint to reset the network. However, since I added the external truckers antenna for the USB aircard, we hardly ever have that problem.
