Dash Cams - Got one/Want One?

OK...another thread spun into this subject so I thought I would take some initiative and spin it over here...

What are the pro and con aspects?

What models do some of you own?

If you own one, what do you like and/or don't like?

Any good reviews to look at?

SMILE...you could be on some other IRV2er's dash cam.

That thread lead me to here: Dash Cam Talk

I just ordered this one, after reading all the reviews. Plus recommendations from members here: 2013 Newest DVR207 HD720P IR Car Vehicle Dash Camera DVR Rotable 270° Monitor | eBay

I figure I'll start here and see how it works.

I'll be interested in responses to this thread. I've been looking also.

PDR John, please give us an up date when you get yours. Are you planning on mounting high or low on the windshield? Any problem running the power cord? With our close to vertical windshield is there any problem among the cam?

Thanks again for pulling the trigger & "volunteering" to be our lead expert on this subject.

Somewhere on this forum I have a post with pictures of a modified mount. I don't know what my model is but it has been posted before. The mount allows me to mount it to my windshield at dash level and it is not upside down. I can swivel it in every which direction.

Happy trails.

Thanks for the link. The description states that the recording time is only 10 minutes. What must you do to utilize it on a few hour trip ?

I'm sure it is a continuos loop, thus it would have the 10 minutes prior to the accident! There are other cameras that can record much longer, to document your view out the windshield I guess. I'm glad we don't live in Russia, I've read that they are used for self defense. Watch this compilation for some amazing scenes!

Try this link.

Car Camera Direct

Car Camera Direct

Looks like same as what PDR John is buying. And time is based on the SD Card used (2 to 16HR).

I haven't bitten the bullet yet and bought one BUT I have tried a free app for Droid that works ok. Doesn't do HD on my phone but may on yours??

It's called DailyRoad Voyager, runs OK in the background even with Pandora (music) and Waze (GPS) going at the same time.

I was looking at "Rear View Safety" and they have one that includes software with time linked recording.
BLACK BOX CAMERA SYSTEM | RVS-300 | REARVIEWSAFETY.COM

considerably more expensive though.

It breaks them into 10 segments so the file isn't so big for play. Then it loops once memory card is full.

Sounds like this thread should get real busy in a couple of weeks.
