Folks,

How do you all power the multitude of electronic devices on your dashboard.

The list may include the following:

GPS Navigation

TPMS

Cell Phone / Tablet

Dash Cam

Toad Braking System

My RV has 2 12VDC Cigarette Lighters.

Options that I have thought about:

1. Perhaps someone makes a 'power strip' of cigarette lighter sockets?
2. Hard wire into dash switches

I would love to see how you handle this challenge.

Excellent question..because I am in the middle of answering that same question for myself. In my case... I removed the old CRT type TV above the driver/passenger head. I am reworking that space by making it into a powered charging area. I pulled a #10 THHN wire run from the house batteries up to that space. Have powered 2ea tripplite 375w inverters and have installed a triple set of duplex wall outlets. I will include a 5 way USB charging station for my tablet PC and various cell phone goodies. I have placed a duplex box where my wife can plug her laptop in while driving. I added the Samsung blueray player and multimedia/netflix box....the upgraded HDMI tv had already been installed. My project is far from being done and i have a lot of wire sloppily hanging around....but it is all coming together. This is what I am doing to power all the dashboard stuff I have collected and cannot live without.

i just plug in a "one to multi ports" to sig socket.

I've had several other 12V outlets installed on flat surfaces of the dashboard near where I have things powered. I now have a total of five convenient outlets. They're easy to install and provide a more secure connection than would multi-outlet adapters. Also, when you use an adapter your total current draw is limited to that of the outlet you are plugged into. When you install multiple outlets each will have its own current draw capability.

I ran across the Anderson Powerpole system for mobile power distribution a year or so ago and it solved my power cord problems. It's a matter of changing out the ends of the power cords to the Anderson style and then choosing a power distribution center or splitter that fits your needs.
