Dashboard gadget organizer

I got tired of seeing a bunch of mounts and power cords on the dash. We have two cell phones and a GPS device and the mess was unsightly. I searched for something I could buy that would handle the task, but came up dry. Perhaps someone might post a solution in this thread. In the mean time, here's what I did.

This triangular shaped box is 24 inches long. It has three 1.25 inch holes for mount stems. Open underneath so the heavy base mount stems hold it down. I use a three way power splitter inside the box, so only one power socket is needed. I added some velcro to the bottom so it stays put.

I made something similar - don't have it anymore but I intend to do another version of it soon.

In my case I used black plexiglass. You can find it on Amazon if you do not have a local supply. I bent it in an L shape - actually more angle than a L, but I hope you get the idea. I heated it with a heat gun. You do have to experiment a little to get a "feel" for how much. I liked the "modern" look of the black plexi better than wood, which is why I used it. But it does have some "issues". Namely, you have to attach it to the dash or mounting surface somehow - because it is too light. Velcro works. To finish the edges I used a file to round them over a little, then put a "melted" edge on them with a butane torch. It was pretty easy to do. But again - you have to experiment a little on a spare piece. I covered the "base" with a piece of vinyl color matched to the interior. Simple to do by folding over the edges and using a hot melt glue gun. Looked pretty professional when done.

Jack:
Sounds nice. You need to do another one and take some pictures. In fact, do two and send me one!
