I purchased the Garmin too. I based my selection on my experience with other Garmin products in the past and the reviews on the cam. I plan to purchase another as a rearview for our trailered vehicle soon.

Yes, but I didn't notice the new member discount. That $2.69 I wasted would have fueled our TREK for another 7 or 8 miles!

I got the dashcam you linked above, and have been playing with the operation, but I can't figure out how to play back the videos on my laptop. I don't seem to have a memory card input on the laptop?

I bought a highly recommended brand a few months ago. It even had some nice reviews and movies on You Tube. Have not installed it yet.

For the life of me, I can't figure out how to make it replay. Seems to be recording and operating as advertised. But if you can't play it back for the police officer, what good is it?

The instructions that come with these things don't seem to be a lot of help! I think they are generic instructions that cover several models, and you just have to figure out what applies to yours! I spent about an hour this morning, trial and error, figuring out how to set it up and make it record and play back.

Bought the Black Box. Very cheaply built. The USB input jack broke plus the case. Also I bought a DBPOWER that is a go pro knock off. is OK, but, can not be turned off from a 12v source. Make sure the camera loops video. Forms are best and don't buy by price only.
Places to buy.

I'm sure we've all been there, done that.
I have been guilty many times buying the Cheap One, tossing it in the can and then buying the good one in the end. But now it cost more.

But look how much "wisdom" you bought!

Dashcam Opinions

My Garmin NuViCamLM has the HD dashcam in it. I don't ever plan to re-see the windshield view unless there was an astounding (unicorn crossed the road) or unfortunate event, but I can view or download by plugging the USB into whatever.
For a thrill, we watch videos of kids and grands. I take those with my Fruit Fone.

I never pay less that $125 for wine......for a 55 gal drum Obvioulsy I am not picky...

The cameras I have seen you can play back in three ways, connect to your computer using a USB cable, take out the memory card and put that into your computer or on the rear camera screen....but the video is VERY small.

Used my little heapie-cheapie dashcam today on a trip and it works great! Don't know how long it will last, but very happy with it right now!

Did you get this figured out? If you don't have a slot for the memory card, you can remove the complete camera and connect it to the laptop via USB.
The camera will power up, and you should get an option for PC or USB. It ends up looking like a flash drive and you can browse the files and play them.

Regards,

Dan
