After listening to all the ads,the count down to Digital TV, has finally come.

As of 12 pm this afternoon, Wilmington NC was the first area in the world to have solely digital TV. Reason I mentioned the world, is there are TV reporters from all over. Places like Japan, England, Australia sent reporter to see the BIG SWITCH.

AND IT WORKED!

Guess now North Carolina will have a dual slogan on our license tags.

I can't really tell if you are serious or just joking. I hope your joking because in the world of digital technology, this is a non-event.

The switch to DTV for some is a no brainer, but I suspect that a large number of our population has struggled to understand what will happen.

The early switch in Wilmington was a great idea and the feedback that will be collected will assist other areas and TV stations make the switch easier in 2009.

I give the Wilmington TV stations a

Good job !

I'm not sure I get your point either. Are you saying all the tv stations in Wilmington are now Digital and they are no longer transmitting Analog or are you saying all the stations are now transmitting digital as well as analog. All the stations here in Colorado Springs have been transmitting digital for some time now. But they haven't shut down their analog signals because their not required to do so until Feb 2009.

It the first part is the case, then how are all the people who haven't switched getting the broadcasts, since they aren't required to switch yet?

You can buy a digital converter box at any Walmart for $30 now, so you don't need to fret about a coupon. Funny thing how the price of those boxes dropped dramatically after the go'vt coupons were used up or expired.

Sorry to bust the bubble but an area in Northern Utah, Cache county, eliminated analog brodcasts and went ALL digital on August 30, 2008.

Some more info on the analog to digital thing..

Business
Wilmington Becomes Model For Digital TV Switch
by Catherine Welch

Correction: The original headline for this story incorrectly implied that Wilmington, N.C., was the first place in the country to make the switch from analog to digital TV. Cache County, Utah, made the switch on August 30. The story also incorrectly referred to "analog-to-digital converter boxes." The boxes are digital-to-analog converters
