That's like asking which is best, Ketchup or Mustard on a hot dog! Everyone has a different opinion of which is best. Some like DirecTV better and others like Dish. DirecTV may have better football coverage, but you can't receive HD programming with a dome type antenna. Dish network has great programming and can receive HD with a dome. I have had both and can say both are good, but I currently have Dish and prefer their customer service.

What do YOU want Larry? Look at packages and figure out what YOU want. Cost is about equal across the board. Equipment is equal. Direct has better sports packages, Dish seems to hwve better customer service. You need to decide what is important to you.

Salsa ... has surpassed ketchup as the most used condiment.
So go with SalsaTV.

If you have ever seen the Direct TV ads, they always compare themselves to all the cable tv providers, but never Dish.
Dish is better.

As a Direct tv user from the start I suggest going to Dish.
Direct tv customer service is terrible and you can do a search in the little green google box above on the subject. Direct tv used to be easy to work with but is impossible at this time.
Countless hours to try and get my service address changed but to no avail.

Have had both in sticks and RV. Currently using Dish. Programming about the same. Did like the DirecTV menu and guide a bit better but not a big deal.
There is a outstanding question, as far as I know, with DirecTV saying they will be going HD-only in a couple years. Some uncertainty last I knew about what this means to RVers with the single LNB crank-up roof dish. Not sure if that's resolved yet.
Will say my current combo of the Pathway X2 dish and Wally receiver is great. Use a phone app to make sure that sats are visible, set up the Pathway, and let it do all the work. No more listening to a beep while scanning the crank-up back and forth trying to get a signal. A bit costly but sure is easier.
JMHO.

the dish sats are lower in the sky but their pay-as-you-go plan is perfect for anyone not fulltiming. we've had dish for 3-yrs now snd are happy.
