Does anyone know if the Direct TV D10 receiver will work with one of their RF remotes? I got the RF remote and did all the required steps, but I cannot get it to work. Direct TV website only says RF remotes may not work with some receivers. When I called Direct for info, I was told the RF remote works with all their 'basic receivers.' Their current 'basic' receiver is the D20 so I wonder if I need to get one of those.

Mine's a R15 and RF remote works with that. You might try searching a few DTV message boards for the answer.

Does the D10 setup menu have a remote setup menu for IF/RF? If so, then I believe it should work.

The RF remote never worked with my R-10 and I am surprised to hear that it did work with the R-15.

Dirk, I checked that. There was nothing in the receiver set up menu related to an RF option.

I found the instructions that came with the remote not to work but found an other set of them that did on a DSS website. On occasion we like to watch TV in the aft bedroom and the rf remote works very well for that one reason alone.

Talked again to Direct TV. They now tell me the only SD Direct TV receivers that will respond to any RF remote are two of the Hughes receivers, which they do not sell. I thought Hughes was their parent company so am a bit confused by that.
They did tell me I could buy the Direct TV HD receiver at Best Buy (which will work with the RF remote) and they will activate it for SD signal only (my Kingdome can't do HD).

I got my hughes R15 from Direct TV. I'm betting that an other call to Direct TV will result in a different answer.

There is no relation of any kind between Hughes, Hughesnet or DirecTV.
There used to be, many years ago, but right after Rupert Murdock bought Hughes he sold all of the assets that were not DirecTV since that's all he wanted.

This has gotten more interesting today. Went to Best Buy and they had 4 of the DTV RF remotes on display, including the antenna that attaches to the receiver. When I asked them which DTV receiver (they had 4 different models) would work with the RF remote, they said 'none.' Go figure.
Rick was right...I called Direct again and got a different answer. After checking with a supervisor, the tech advised that the only receivers they now offer with RF remote capability are HD DVR's, something I won't use in the motorhome. Since DTV just sold me the new RF remote, they agreed to credit my account for that cost and they apologized for the misinformation.

Bear with here since I'm a little electronically challenged. I bought the 4 receiver deal from Direct and one of those is the HD receiver that I mounted in the coach. I do not receive any HD channels as for the time being I wish to continue using my King Dome. I did purchase the DTV RF remote from Best Buy a few months ago and it works very well my my receiver. My coach is in the shop with jack problems so I can't just bounce outside and see exactly which receiver I have. I'll check it, hopefully tomorrow, when I go down and check my coach.

If you don't want HD in the MH, go to ebay and buy a R15. It's a great receiver with a hard drive. The DTV Plus is a $5.00 service to record your favorites and skip all the medication commercials. I've seen r15 real cheap on the bay. My RF remote works great with it.
