I have read a number of posts here, but haven't seen exactly what I would like to know, so I am going to submit my own post.
I am thinking about signing up for DirectTV's Whole Home service as part of a home/rv package they are offering. If I do, I will use it at home to replace my current Comcast service and then use it on our coach when we travel.
My 2007 coach has a King Dome roof antenna with a single coax feed to my front TV and bedroom TV cabinets. As a result, I realize I can only get SD programs when using the KingDome. My first question is (1) will I be able to use Whole (Motor)Home service on the coach?
The DirectTV package includes a tripod mounted HD antenna which I would set up when I know I will be staying at a location for more than a few days. This would allow me to watch HD programing on our TV in the main living area. My additional question relates to viewing HD programing on my exterior HD TV.
(2) Since I can't have an HD receiver associated with my exterior TV, I want to know if I can view HD programing from the HD DVR on the outside TV by connecting my HD DVR to my video control center using the VCR/DVD composite audio/video input on the control center. This would require the control center to convert the composite signal to RF channel 3 or 4 which could then be selected for input to the outside TV.
Lastly, if I use the trypod mounted HD antenna I would need to have a dual coax connection to the HD DVR as I understand it. So my third question is (3) How can I connect the dual coax cable from the external tripod mounted HD antenna to the HD DVR when I will already have a single coax cable from the King Dome connected to it? Is there a dual coax A/B switch for HD service that I could use or is there some other way of doing this?
Thank you.
