Got a question about bringing in HD DirectTV in to my RV. Right now I have the Slimline dish and the cable (RG6) is coming in through the window to the SWM box and then out to the DVR. Works great expect for the gap in the window because it is slightly open to allow the cable to fit.

So I want to bring the cable in through the wall or floor and make it nice and neat. I can get the Winegard outdoor connection w/cover for the outside, bring a short cable through the wall and connect to an interior faceplate with cable connector. My question is whether anyone is doing this now and how well it works because I can not find any specs on the freq range of the Winegard connectors. I want to make sure they will support the higher freq requirements of DirecTV HD.

Any insight is appreciated.

A lot of units have a Separate TV Cable and Sat connection at the same location in a RV bay. Mine does. Might look and see if it is prepared for Sat. I am not sure about the winegard connectors. I would think you could find our on their factory site.

Thanks, that is a good idea. Unfortunately, the Winegard site does not have it but your idea made me think I could email them and ask - they should know.

Thanks again

Camping world sells a 7" flat cable made to go in windows.

Easier than drilling a hole?

I have seen those and wondered about them. Have you tried one with DirecTV HD?

No, my trailer has external hookups. I just remember seeing those on thier site previously. If you have a CW close by, it would be worth a shot since you could return it if it doesnt work. Radio Shack may even sell something similar?

IMO

DirectTV put in an additional hookup just for my satellite service - something to do with the splitter to front and rear TVs. Direct box is only on my front TV. They did drill a hole in my wall to make a hookup close to my TV.

I have recently done something similar to this. I have DirecTV and I get it from a tripod that I set up outside my MH as needed. I have a 15 ft. and a 50 ft. siamese cable (2 coax cables together) that run from my tripod dish to the engine compartment. Two lengths of cable depending on where I have to go to get the satellite signal. Siamese cables because of a dual tuner DVR and a DirecTV LNB with two outputs. Then up through the firewall and windshield moulding to my DVR. The output of the DVR goes to the Winegard Entertainment Selector and then out to three tv's. The back bedroom tv is controlled by a Universal RF Remote.
Everything works great.

To make the above post a little clearer, I ran a piece of the dual coax cable from the DVR down to the engine compartment (or under the hood of the MH). When not in use, the short piece of dual cable just hangs down in the engine compartment with caps on. This is where I connect my cables that runs to my tripod.

You can use a diplexer outside to feed in both cable and sat signals. And then a diplexer where the single cable comes in your RV (up front in a cabinet) and split out the cable and sat signals.

Check this out.... Diplexer

Diplexer - forgot about using a pair of those. They work well across single cables. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm confused. Can you use a diplexer to run two DirecTV satellite signals into a dual tuner DVR through one cable? I thought the diplexer was used only if there are two different signals such as satellite and cable or satellite and broadcast or cable and broadcast. Has anyone done this with two DirecTV satellite signals? I think I've heard of Dish signals being run this way but not DTV.
Please comment.

You are correct, the duplexer only allows the sharing of one cable if the freqs are different. The duplexer will not work for an install requiring two LNB feeds. My situation is such that I have the SWM so there is only one feed line.
