DirecTV HELP!!!
Good morning all,
I have Directv in my home and in my motorhome. I have a model HR44-200 receiver in my home and a model H24-200 in my motorhome. When we are on the road I can only pick up channel 200 and above unless I contact Directv with the Zip Code where we are. That's not a big deal but what is a big deal is that by doing the Zip Code I change the receiver at my home and I don't get my recordings when I get home.
I have heard that if I put a HR-44 receiver in my motorhome I will get local programming wherever we are, no more changing Zip Codes.
Does anyone out there have any information for me? Thanks and have a great day!!!

We receive all channels except our home local which is about 5 channels.

If both receivers are on the same contract then both receivers will receive the same programming; if you want different programming on each receiver you need to have 2 separate contracts...

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
Noticed you are kinda new on IRV2 and wanted to say hello!
I don't think you will be able to have two HR44 on the same contract.
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

NO! Locals are spot beamed. If you want locals you must still call and change service address. Of course then you get locals for that area, not your home area.
Using your HR44 receiver simply gives you all your prerocorded programming and not haveing to learn a different receiver.

I use the Hr24 in by home and move it to the Rv when traveling. I get the same programing on the road as I do at home except for locals. I haven't changed the zip code as we usually don't stay long in one place.

I submitted a DNS form 2 years ago. Received a letter last month stating if I wanted to keep the DNS I would need two accounts. One for the RV and one for the house. Can not have DNS at your home. Double cost. I dropped the DNS and if I want local news I switch to either campground cable or the antenna.

Not quite. Local channels are "spot beamed" so you can't receive them once you exit the area for that spot beam. Depending on your location you may be able to get local channels as far away as 100 miles from home or as little as 50. Local channels are determined by your SERVICE ADDRESS. Unfortunately, DirecTV has recently tightened up the conditions where you can change your service address.
DNS doesn't directly control the local channel issue. What DNS does is give you access to specific satellite feeds for the major providers like CBS, NBC... Whether you get the east or west coast feeds for those that have both is determined by the time zone of your BILLING ADDRESS zip code. If your billing address is in east coast or central time zones you get the east feeds otherwise you get the west coast feeds.

I have the Genie system with three Genie Mini wirelss system. I also re-submitted my DNS request, we live in our RV and don't have a home, which is hard for Directv to comprehend. Up throuh May 2019 I had a renewable subscription for MLBHD which dissappeared from my screen on June 9. I have spent more than 5 hours over several days with the wonderful folks on the 800 "customer Service" number and followed up on Chat with three people and a supervisor. I also talked with someone on the "Sales Team", as of today No one has been able to fix the problem and restore my MLBHD.
Is there a secret code, other than threatening to terminate my contract?

What reason did they give for removing the MLBHD from your service? Or don't they know what happened to it?
Since you live in the RV, I presume you have a mobile account. If you don't, that would be the first change I would make. It should also make DNS easy to get.

They originally said that auto renewal was not on,(although to turn it off you must call a number prior to a specified date), but show on my bill that they charged me for April and May. Now they transferred me to MLB ( which is only open between noon and midnight Monday through Friday). I have previously spoken to MLB who were unable to help. I asked about verifying my account as mobile, and they did not respond other than to ask me to verify my address. I asked Billing or Location? Huh! was the response. What a sorry piece of "S---" these people are. Directv Customer Service
should just dry up and go away for all the good they do! I have tried threats to terminate without penalty, gotten nowhere.

We also are full-time RVers and we've had DNS for 8 years. We received the "update" forms and submitted the paperwork both by email and snail mail. I did have to send a followup second email but I did eventually receive notification that I now had a "mobile account" and could continue DNS service.
I made sure that I sent them everything they asked for and also included things like a photo of my MH with its Winegard Trav'ler on the roof. I was worried about the fact that my Montana MH registration is "permanent" so I couldn't cite an expiration date, but apparently they were able to handle that.
As for your MLBHD subscription, I can only guess that there might be a regional factor at issue here? Does it provide more coverage of your "local team" than other teams? If so I could see that using it in a mobile RV would violate FCC rules on local channel access. Just a thought

I really haven't had much trouble with Direct other than raising prices and dropping channels but I'm changing to Dish on Monday. Getting a Hopper 3 and two wireless Joeys. I had my MotoSat for Direct removed and replaced with an RF Mogul. Only problem I ran into is the new LNB is for a Wally. Had to order a different LNB, reprogram the RF Mogul controller and add a hub. Cost was $60 from RF Mogul. When done I can just move the Hopper and Joeys back and forth.
