Just dropped back to Direct's Choice package and dropped all premium channels. Got tired of the same movies over and over and over and over and over. We're not much on sports, except when the Seminoles are beating the Gators or when Auburn is beating Alabama - neither of which has happened lately, so we don't need the sports package. We can rent or buy movies to watch again and again for the money we were spending on the premium channels

Must be my location, but I have basic DirecTV services and my bill is $67.88 a month. We have 2 boxes in the house!

Guess my rate is going up to! boo-hoo.....
oh well, it is either that or back to reading more and more books!

If someone here thinks they can provide that same or better service as DirecTV for a lower price go for it. Assembly the investors needed to build and launch a satellite, get contracts with the networks for signals and advertise for customers. Then see what it is going to cost run your operation and provide a decent return to your investors for the risk they are taking. If you can provide good service at a lower price then maybe you get the customers needed to stay in business.

Our economy is built on the idea that competition and providing a needed service at a reasonable price will control the market. So if you think the price increase is too much vote with your dollars. Go to another provider of satellite service, use campground cable or use over the air signals, but griping about the increase just does not make sense.

We are happy with DTV and understand a increase once in a while. I looked for an increase every year when I was working. It seems like a high price to pay to watch TV. Remember when it was free. We had 4 sometimes 5 stations. We had to get up and move the Rabbit ears to get it to work better. Boy that was fun. I can remember having my sister hold the antenna because I got a better picture. My wife don't want to hold the antenna so I have DTV. Happy to pay the bill.

Wouldn't mind the rate increases if they would improve their customer no-service! They rate among the top in that area! It's amazing how many stupid people they have at one company.
