Just received an email from DirecTV that their Sat-To-Go systems are now available - $1,499 each and can be used anywhere there is a DirecTV signal. Satellite dish not required.

While "technically" there is not a "dish", you do still have a flat panel that must be properly pointed toward the satellite just as a dish would need be to pointed. You still need a clear view to the S. sky and you still need a non-rainy day. SatCom came out with this kind of an automatic dish that was originally installed on all of the Alpha motorhomes in the recessed area in the rear. They were all replaced with King Dome because the automatic function never worked properly but the idea behind the flat panel did work. There's nothing magic about what they are selling, just the TV, flat panel and receiver all built into one box and powered by 12 volts.
